Aeg vs Sniping

Some people have told me that an average aeg has the same firing range as say your average sniper rifle. Other people ive talked to said that snipers have a much longer range. I know most aegs fire between 320-380 fps and most snipers shoot over 400 fps. But what does that translate to in range? I know aegs are accurate up to about 150 feet. So what about a decent sniper? 200 feet? Any info helps. Thanks.

Stock bolt actions are on par with AEGs. With the right amount of upgrades ($500-$1000) then you have the longer range and tighter accuracy. But no matter if you have all the upgrades in the world it doesn't make you a better shooter. It all comes with experience and having someone experienced take you under their wing helps allot.

those long range BA rifles are heavily upgraded. double or triple the cost of the rifle, in parts, at times.

Just to add some more points, Never buy a clone sniper rifle, in a bolt action system you rely on tight tolerances and shot-to shot airflow. You don't get that with clones.

AEG will usually win over the sniper in most engagements due to the principle of accuracy through volume of fire while your stock sniper can fire 1 BB the AEG will have time to fire 20+ BB

The best alternative is an aeg with a long precision inner barrel.

That said, to try and not discourage you too much, tinkering with the internals and upgrading a bolt-action sniper was a whole lot of fun

I've found that snipers are effective in games not because of their ability to hit stuff at long range (unless you're cdn_stalker with his 50km range CruiseBBs), but because they have an annoying ability to stay hidden. A sniper with a quiet BAR and a nice long firing lane can keep a lot of people from advancing when they don't have the slightest idea where s/he is. The shots don't even have to hit anyone.. as long as their close it will cause people to slow down.

In a quick skirish on a small field this might not matter much, but in a Milsim or semi-milsim game when the respawn point is half a kilometre or more away with a 20 minute spawn delay, it has an effect.

I'll be the first to point out that if you want to play throughout the winter, AEGs and Gas Guns aren't the best idea depending on the temperature/conditions, so if you want to play year-round, a good Springer has its place in your arsenal.

Depends who your engaging, I've won quite a few sniper vs AEG battles through accuracy.
Big thing about a sniper rifle is your getting CONSISTENT and ACCURATE long range, every time. Very predictable shots.
Although a fully upgraded AEG might get really close to a sniper rifles range, it still won't match it's accuracy or repeatability, or how quiet it is.....since for a while you couldn't hear mine from 20 feet away lol
