Bringing back a gun from the US

Ok so I have read threads that ask if its possible to bring a gun over the border after its been disassembled and given a clear lower receiver. And I have a similar question. My family has another house in orlando florida that we spend a lot of time in. And we are going there in a couple of days. If I were to order a gun from airsoft gi and ship it to my summer home in orlando then disassemble the gun and remove the lower receiver (the only restricted part) then put it in my suitcase and bring it back on a plane (obviously not carry on). Then put on a new lower once it was back. Would they scan it and seize the gun?

I wouldn't take it on a plane if i were you...otherwise that should be fine.

Can't do it at the US/Quebec boarder. They don't like even clear. And everywhere else it depends what mood the boarder guards are in, it's about 50/50 they'll take it away.

So if I completely disassembled it and it was split up into many parts ( gearbox, pistol grip, stock, hand guard, barrel, etc.) they would still take it away? Like it wouldnt really look anything like a gun...

Maybe just me but i would be hesitant to check in luggage with a disassembled gun of any kind. I had a voltage convertor seized mostly because they didnt know what the hell it was. Mind you, that was in Russia.

are you going to declare it? If i was a customs agent, I'd be even more suspicious with all those bits of metal and plastic in your luggage. it would appear that you are trying to smuggle it. which, in fact, you are. and if you declare it, you'll get flagged pretty quick.

IMHO, it's a no win situation to save a few bucks when there's legal and not so legal all black goodness, plastic and metal, in country already.

I wouldn't attempt this unless you like the anal probe.

I wish I had a dollar every time a what if post was made. I would be so rich, I think I could have honest to god bought a house or something.

The bottom line is that if the CBSA agent suspects anything, they will check your baggage, sometimes even if they don't suspect anything they could still randomly check your baggage. If your disassembled airsoft gun is undeclared and you get checked and it gets found, you better have a very well worded explanation as to what it is, why you have it and why you didn't declare it.

The possibility of a big pile of border crossing bull shit just to save a couple of bucks? Totally not worth it, especially if it were to cause the family grief and annoyance during a vacation.

You have all the required the information you need and the general consensus is not to do it, do so as you please but your actions are of your own accord.
