S is the number of cells
2S = 7.4v
3S = 11.1v

The C rating refers to it's continuous discharge rate, your mah rating also factors in here
You take you C rating times the amount of AMPERAGE in the battery, to get the safe discharge rate
So I've got a 7.4v 1600mah 20C LiPo
1600mah/1000 = 1.6 Amps
20C x 1.6A = 32 Amps

Now at top performance, most setups won't draw more than 18 Amps, so get a LiPo that's rated for atleast 24. And hook up a 20A fuse for safety.
The motor's only going to draw what it wants to draw, so having a C rating above what your motor is drawing isn't going to increase your speed (going from 20C to 30C).
But if your not providing the motor with enough amperage, say your using a LiPo that can only supply 10 Amps when your motor wants 16 Amps, well Imagine a Lipo with a big frowny face on it...

So when looking for a LiPo, a good place to start on hobbyking is "2S 20C"
From there you can see all the 7.4v 20C lipo packs, check out all the dimensions and see what works for you.
If your looking for something mini-battery sized, it will be around 1600-2200mah

And if your still stumped, just tell me what size of NIMH your using and what voltage of LiPo you want and I'll find you a battery lol

Ha, I can understand that. Here is a very good primer on Lipos:

ebay sells some great intelligent computer chargers for 60-100$ CAD with adapter. They have "balance" mode for lipos which is extremely safe , can also charge nimh & nicad in 30mins, can be powerered by your car battery as well

Cheap ebay lipo battery is ok but you need GOOD CHARGER. A good charger is #1 required, the brand of the lipo is #2 ... if your battery kicks ass but your using a simple 30-40$ charger , itll kill it

Do NOT use an 11.1v lipo, i had a G&G m4 CQB-H.. and a fully charged 11.1V 1500Mah 20C and it blew it to pieces..... the gears are crap and cannot take the punishment.The stock springs are not of a high enough rating to cycle the piston to the front of the gear box before the sector gear comes around to pick it up again (totally wrecked gear set)...Bad things will happen with that gear box if you do not upgrade a few things. 1:spring-m110 or greater, 2: piston head- ive gone through 3 of them, trust me if you leave your gun stock there great, anything more for velocity they will crack. 3: you will also need a sector clip for proper BB feeding, i had installed one on mine and it fed great. 4: A mosfet ( saving your trigger contacts and making your gun more effecient as well) But instead of even having to open your gear box just go with a 7.4v lipo there great and will last forever between charges, your trigger contacts wont get damaged from arcing. look on the bright side your AEG will last alot longer between rebuilds with a sane rate of fire. Still installing the mosfet couldnt hurt
