Ares - T.A.R. 21 Help
Hi all,
I am new here but recently I have just bought an Are sTar 21 and playing out here in Hong Kong. The stock gun is around 1.1 joules (around 380 fps) and I want to modify it to at least 1.5 / 1.6 joules. I need some help here since ppl out here in HK have refused to touch such an expensive gun or have no knowledge in providing infomation on it, so i have to turn to these forums. Out the box, I am using a 9.6v 1600mH battery - which I find it to be insufficient. I want to use an 11.1v 1400mH Lipo battery but I'm afraid that it will burn my motor. I've tested it and the battery works. The question here I am here to ask is - would my gun be able to sustain using the Lipo battery without modifications? Since I want a quick firing rate. Secondly, if i want to upgrade the power, accuracy and distance of the gun to say....1.7 joules...how much do I need to change of the gun? I heard that the gun carries a flexibility to allow quick spring change so that will up the power... but do I need to replace the motor, gearbox etc...as well? what do i need to change with the minimum amount of hassle in the most economical way? Thirdly, the M.A.R.S scope is way too bad....is there anyway I could put an magnifier zoom scope / rail before the MARS so that I could use it in conjunction with the MARS? i really don't want to take it off and replace it with an ACOG sight since i like the inbuilt laser function Thanks all for your help Last edited by Kahoj; March 2nd, 2010 at 05:22.. |

Don't know where you're getting 380fps = 1.1 joules. Not using 0.2g BB's to chrony?
380fps is already at about 1.3-1.4 joules. Wouldn't take much to bump it up, a little more powerful spring. And yes you won't be able to use the 9.6v 1600mah mini battery. Get a large or like you said a lipo (but I don't like lipos, that's just me) Last edited by Styrak; March 3rd, 2010 at 01:51.. |

The quick-change spring is good for that. I run mine on a 9.6v 1600mah mini and I get quite an insane ROF... I would never go for a lipo, too much hassle and I'm pretty sure the motor and wiring would get burned out pretty quick. Replacing the original leaky nozzle with a better quality one would also bump up the fps significantly.
As for changing the MARS sight, I'm guessing it is the CTAR 21 version that you have then, so all you have to do is buy the Shooters Design/Ares top rail and you're good to go. Here's some instruction to do all of that. http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?reviewID=229 http://www.redbadger.org/main/2009/1...-takedown.html Here's the top-rail: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=5889 Cheers!
