Ambi Selector for M-Series Family of Weapons
If any SCAR owners (VFC etc) can PM me with pictures of the insides of the ambi fire selector on their guns, and the dimensions of the lower (internal space) that would be appreciated.
Trying to determine if that system can be modified into a standard TM style gearbox for M series Family of weapons. (without needing a completely new body like the king arms ambi body)

Some of the newest King Arms bodies are fully ambidextrous. Selector, mag release, and bolt catch.

I know that's why i have a link to one of said bodies in the OP. I want to see if I can adapt a standard metal body using the VFC mechanism on the SCAR

I think you are very much out of luck on that project unless you're a master machinist. There is a series of gears that drive the switches, and the groove in the receiver that lets them slide into place on my VFC SCAR.
If you check out this link you'll get a guide to a teardown with some critical pictures. a few red Xs now but I sent the guy a message about it. You can see the grooves in the last picture. I also recall having to flex the body, not too hard with the polymer on a SCAR but maybe tougher with a typical M4 metal body. http://www.airsoftpacific.com/viewto...=279852#279852

Thanks for the link. I just got my hands on a VFC SCar, plus an extra VFC SCAR L gearbox. Aside from the modified selector plate, I think the system can be adapyed to fit into a M4 Body if you are willing to do some work.
The arm that is shown in the last picture of the scar sits inside a hole that already exists in the TM gearbox but serves no purpose (as far as I can tell). Space permitting it can work. |
