Trouble with KSC USP .45 recoil guide disassembly and mounting
Hey guys I just got a new SD metal slide and barrel as well as SD 150% recoil/hammer spring set for my KSC USP .45 (non-sys7).
This was also the first time I field stripped my USP. I've managed to install the inner barrel (after a LOT of confusion) and hammer spring, but I'm not sure how to replace those two springs on the recoil rod. How do I take this thing apart? http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/4583/pc190035c.jpg Also I tried putting the spring guide back on and I wondered to myself...how in the HELL did this thing stay on in the first place? Here's what I mean... http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/1654/71510756.jpg This is taken from the manual of the KSC USP Compact, which is slightly different than the full size version in the contact points between the recoil spring guide and barrel that are supposed to lock into place. The red circled part shows the contact surfaces. It's two smooth surfaces that easily slips past each other when tension is applied (shown by red arrow). So now I can't put the recoil guide back in without it just slipping past that "junction point". I have no idea how this was put together in the first place. Those surfaces in the Compact version seems to be slightly angled, but the full size version has very smooth and small contact surfaces. Am I just putting this thing on wrong? Thanks! Pull back the spring from the front end, there's a C-clip remove it and you got the recoil spring. There's a lil pin held where the Recoil spring resides, punch it out and you got your buffer spring. This is base on HK usp and KSC System 7 ones.

If the spring guide is anything like the MK23's spring guide, there is a small washer holding the top circular part on place. So you have to compress the spring, and remove the washer to disassemble it.
As for putting the spring guide back in the the slide. I turn the slide on its back and line up the spring guide where it should be placed and then slide the bottom half of the frame onto the slide.

Awesome, all done. Thanks for the help guys!
The problem is there's so much tension in the spring now slide-racking isn't nearly as responsive anymore. I'd actually have to push the slide forward manually after racking it backwards. And the slide doesn't lock back properly when dry firing without BBs anymore. |

Are you sure that the slide isn't caught on the hammer?

I'm not sure what you mean by slide being caught on hammer, but it's getting better once I racked the slide some more. I guess you just gotta work in those new strings a bit.
