Jammed G&G M4a1

Hi, i took out my m4 the other day to do a "daily routine firing" sort of thing when it jammed. I not sure how to describe it so i am calling it a jam. I've tried to unjam it using a unjamming rod, but it wasn't a bb problem. I've fired it on full auto but nothing happened. Lastly, i checked the anti reversal latch, but it was sitting snuggly where it is supposed to be (not on the gear teeth). So now i'm not sure what the problem is. The gun, when the trigger is pulled, i can here the motor attempting to move, it makes a sound where it's rotating but seems to have hit something the second it moves and makes a *cluck* *smack* *bang*, that kind of sound against something. I've tried adjusting the base plate the the upper and lower extremes while firing during the course but it still makes the clicking sound. I have had this gun for almost a yaer now, so it isn't a " i got a broken gun when a bought it" porblem. Is this a internal jam, or is the gear box not aligned, is the hop up a factor, or something entirely different? Help would be appreciated. :smile:

Well it could be a few things, but lets start with a handful and you can see whether or not one is the answer. First when you set up your mechbox do you time the gears? If you are unsure what I am talking about then its a good chance its your problem, and if you need to know how to do it check out mechbox.com and see the video instruction on their site to make sure you have set up correctly. Second I didn't notice you mention but if you have modified the spring of the gun and you have the stock battery might not be up to the task. To check that install the stock G&G spring and try out a fresh battery to test. Also when you resemble your gear box its sometimes a good idea to place it back together without the cylinder installed and put your finger inside to move the gears. This way you can check to see that they are moving smoothly, and whether or not you need to maybe a few shims. Also make sure you are not missing anything, such as the small spring that connects the shell to the tappet plate.

My best guess though would be try to check the timing of your gears. I hope that helps, and please post your results I would like to know what is stopping it from running well.

theres no such thing as gear timing in a mechbox...

sounds like an internal seizure to me... open the mchbox up and inspect the gears teeths and the piston

In the mechbox.com explained how to time the gears. The gear they say you time has the notch on it to catch the tappet plate. I imagine you would do this so the notch is already against the tappet after assembly to avoid any unnecessary damage to the tappet plate from the gear spinning at full speed before connecting with it.

you could do it but its useless... i cant say how much gearboxes i reassembled with the gears randolmly placed and i never had a tappet broke on me

did you charge your battery properly? its a simple suggestion but its possible that your battery wasnt charged enough, or overcharged, try recharging your battery and try again

It really only applies to the tappet plate, since the gear has knotch that pulls on the tappet plate the gears cant be already pulling on the tappet plate. that's what they mean by timing the gears.

Also it sounds like you have a broken tappet plate and it's jamming up the gears.

Firstly I would get a friends battery that you know works and try that in your gun.
GandG , while the guns seem to be good quality, the batteries that come with them , not so much. A bad cell or two and NO more shoot.
Sometimes its the simple things; easier than ripping apart a mech box to find nothing wrong. Same with cars, the first thing you look at is if its getting fuel.
