Is it silly if I kind of want to keep my orange flash hider?

If it is not a Walmart, Canadian Tire, Cansoft, Clearsoft, or Crapsoft gun then heck make the tip any colour you want. Note though in some cases it does pay to have a black flashhider as any other colour will stick out like a sore thumb.

The decision is totally up to you though at the end of the day.

It's just a matter of visibility. It doesn't matter if your gun is steel or clearsoft. If your trying to hide in the bushes or in the dark, the orange tip will probably give you away. If you don't want to paint it or replace it, that's fine. Just cover it up with black tape for the game then remove the tape after the game. Don' worry about it, at 10 feet away nobody will be able to tell the difference.

I find that a black perm marker does a good enough job on the tips to darken them, and since its ink it dries thinner making it "Okay" to coat the inner tubing of the orange tip.

..is also a much lazier option.. which is nice.

I don't see the point in storing it with a red tip.

As long as you store it out of view (which you should anyway), then it wouldn't make a scrap of difference.

The red tip law is for the USA, not Canada.

edit: Another option would be to use a red barrel plug or cover.

Ye that doesn't make much sense. Who's going to see it in your closet? I don't think your clothes will mind if your gun has an orange tip or black. If your going to put a silencer on it (makes no difference in performance, actually performs shittier in most cases) then just have the silencer on all the time and when you store it take it off and just leave it like that. No need to swap to store it..

Maybe his parents won't let him paint the tip black. I bet that's it.

To be honest, if you have to save up birthday money to buy something then you need to realize the result of that. If its like an Xbox or computer yes you can do that. But for Airsoft you cannot. There is so much that goes into getting into the sport that you'll need birthday, Christmas, Easter, and whatever event you get money from. Thats like a whole year. Unless your entire family and relatives are loaded and each person gives you like $100 each lol.

My suggestion kid, save your money, wait until you turn 18. I did it, you can too.
