I just had one the the most idiotic conversations ever with someone I THOUGHT was smart. Now, to be clear, I dont own a gun yet, but I'm saving for a P90. That said, I've been researching airsoft for a LONG time. Here is the conversation:

Him: But I have taken out many assault rifles with it because they can't move as fast in tight places :]
Me: thats why I'm getting a P90 :D tight, compact, but mad powerful
Him: They all have the same exact barrel lenght
Me: "they all"?
Him: What matters in the FPS
Him: All guns
Me: WOW
Me: thats SO untrue
Him: It's a 2inch copper pipe
Him: dude trust me I have taken a bunch appart
Me: man, I like you, but that was a fuckin stupid statement

Him: airsoft guns?
Him: Not real guns?
Me: you're telling me that a P90 has the same barrel length as an M4 carbine, or an AUG?
Him: The actual component in a airsoft gun

Sorry for showing so much of the conversation, but man...I want to bitch slap him. I dont have any issues admitting I'm wrong, but...whos right here? I'm PRETTY FUCKIN SURE that the barrel length is unique to every gun, and that you can change the inner barrel (or, 2 inch copper pipe thingy, as he puts it) to pretty much any length the body will accomodate... please...someone clear this up. I'd like to know if I'm wrong, and I'd like to be able to throw this at him if I'm right. Sorry that this is such a blindingly stupid topic, but I really want to have experienced people comment on this.

You'll also notice that not even one of them is anywhere close to being as short as 2 inches.

And stock barrels are brass, not copper.

They arn't 2 inches...they do differ in length. They arn't copper...and it's a bb, not a "ball"....

Your right in thinking this guy has the IQ the same as the size of a bb.

Yeah, I think the problem is that he has been playing with cheap, low quality "toy" pistols. Like, he said he pretty much only uses a Glock, and he didnt even mention the brand. Anyways, I think he is just horribly mis-informed, dispite his "experience".

anyone playing for real would have noticed the inner barrel comming almost flush the the outer barrel in almost every AEGs....

No...he isnt a noob...I just think that he has scrapped the surface of airsofting, but thinks hes an experienced player. I'm not sure what "chairsofting" is, but I have a pretty good idea, and it sounds like that is the case.

chairsofting- Playing counter-strike or any war simulated game in full camo for an extended period of time.

AAaahhh...well...lol, hes an admin for a CounterStrike group. He plays a LOT of counterstrike. I mentioned the "bullpup" orientation of the P90, and he thought I was talking about the AUG...didnt know what bullpup meant...
