TM G36C semi auto trigger return problems

OK, I got this g36 in a trade upon inspection all seemed fine. While firing one day; the gear box locked up. I took it down and realized that the piston head’s screw came out of the piston body and the head was locked in the cylinder. No big deal – took it apart inspected everything, everything was fine, so I put it all back together and proceeded to close the gear box. Went to put the shell on and that’s when I noticed that the shell was cracked in the front on both sides of both the left and right shell. *damn it*

Got a hold of Jugglez and bought a KA 7mm Gear box for a Marui AK/G36, um... version 3 for the rest of us... Got it in the mail and proceeded to rebuild the g36 with the new gear box and bushings.

I got it all back together and tested with an 8.6V 1600mAh Intellect while it was out of the lower. Everything worked fine, semi and full; so, I proceeded to finish building the G36.

I put the battery back in, switched it to full and fired fine. I then switched to semi and pulled the trigger; the G36 fired but the trigger didn’t return. I pushed it back with my finger, fired again, and again it didn’t return. I removed the battery and pulled the trigger while in semi and the trigger returned fine. Put the battery back in and fired in semi and the G36 fired and the trigger stuck. Flipped back in to full and the trigger returned. So with the battery in and in semi auto the G36’s trigger doesn’t return.

I did a search on here for a similar issue and on Bing... I came up with the problem in various forums, but very few solutions.

I decided to tear it down again to see if all the springs and levers were properly placed and that everything that needed grease was greased (which was done before). Tore it down and checked everything and all was 100%. I put it all back together and the issue is still there...

With the battery out, the trigger returns when fired in semi and full auto.
With the battery in, the trigger returns when fired in full auto; while in semi auto the G36 fires but the trigger sticks but I can freely move it back with my finger. Also, if I half pull the trigger, the rifle fires and the trigger returns, but trying to feather it just right takes one or two tries and that's just going to create more problems...

Anyone have this problem or know of a solution that will help... I’m stumped!
Thanks...

something is clearly up with your cut-off lever, it's somehow getting your trigger stuck.

Id advise to open up the gearbox, see if anything is wrong around the cut off lever area(is it too loose?).

What do you mean by "battery in"?

Do you mean when you install the battery inside the handguard?

Yes...
When I connect the battery and squeeze the trigger in semi auto, it fires and the triggers sticks. When I disconnect the battery and squeeze the trigger, it returns so I can squeeze it again.

Check if the crosspin that goes into the lower and mechbox is in place.

That little pin looks useless but that is what keeps the mechbox aligned. I saw a few G36s that had the grip screw a little too loose, and had problems because that little pin was not there.

Update:

I took the gearbox apart again and the cut-off leaver was misaligned. I compared it to the old shell and it was not sitting flush. I took the Dremel to the offending corner and removed some meat and now the cut-off leaver is sitting where it was supposed to be.

Put the box back together and I have the same problem...
I also made sure that the cross-pin was in as with everything else...

So I said “Fuck you gun!” hung it on the wall and that’s where it’s sitting.

It’s not a huge problem, in fact during games it’s in full auto anyway – it’s just knowing that it’s doing that is what’s bothering me...

Thanks for your help and any more ideas will be appreciated!
