It has been confirmed that the WE P90, SCAR H and MP5 projects have been shelved do to licence issues.
That still leaves the WE SVD (behind schedule), the WE Aug, Thompson, grease gun left to be released. Plus they have two more versions of the AK and a MK 18 Mod 0 to be released soon as well. I also hear rumors from some insiders about a SR 25 and a LMG in the R&D phase.

If its FN's trades thats causing the issue for WE from releasing the P90, MP5, and SCARH then why not remove them to be sold without trades like many of their other guns? Or is it more then just simply slapping FN's logo on the gun thats causing the issue?

Recently firearm making have been bringing litigation against people who make close copies of their work. So anything that looks too much like an MP5 or SCAR is grounds for a suit.

WE's MP5 and P90, SCAR-H are forever shelved. I posted that a long time ago. Someone asked at WE GBB's facebook page and that was their official answer. MOVE ON folks.
P90's patent might/might not be expired, if it is trademark can be easily overcame |

So regardless if theres trades on the gun or not, WE could still face a lawsuit for making a P90, MP5, and/or SCARH?

You'd think airsofters would boycott Cybergun... But it's less than likely in any large numbers. I want my goddamn SCAR-H and I don't want my money going to the French

well it would be tough to boycott cybergun, since they hold the licenses to many guns, and if a game features their gun under their control, like in CoD Cybergun gets paid a cut. I'm pretty sure I saw their name int he CoD credits before.
Umarex gets the same deal, this is why they went around buying up licenses from the gun companies for the likeness usage rights I imagine... they saw profit in it, and all they need to do is go to a company like FNH and say "hey, everyone wants to use a likeness of your product in their thing, and you don't have a legal team or department to deal with that, how's about our company take care of that for you. We negotiate the deal to use your stuff, you get paid, we take a cut." IT's the same for vehicles too... ever look in the credits of a game like Ace Combat? All the plane manufacturers are listed there, logos and full deal... it's because they get paid a cut in licensing fees. |
