Some places sell o-rings in a bulk packS. You know, something like 200 rings in various sizes for about $10. I don't suppose the quality is up to aerospace standards, but you're sure to find something that'll work for you. Try places like Princess Auto or ToolTown, or that type of place.

Oh i have somewhere to go already. One of our industrial suppliers here at work, can sell them in any quantity. All I'm asking is if anyone knows the size.

I only post this because it has a flexible 10 cm extension and can fit the 1.3 mm allen key head used to change the M4 Open Bolt hopup... I've had a much smoother time adjusting it since I got it.

So I installed a WA barrel onto my WE M4 using the Tonic Airsoft Adaptor. I could have gone without it, but my build is a C8 and that requires a triangle sight, thus the barrel had to be properly indexed.

There's really not much to say about this adaptor. The end that fits into the receiver fits perfectly, the end that fits into the WA barrel... not so much. They made a good engineering choice to radius the joint between the lug and the body of the adaptor. However, when the lug fits into the cutout on the WA barrel, it won't go in as this radiusing gets in the way. I had to spend some time delicately filing the cutouts on the WA barrel on the inside of the barrel, so that the adaptor could fit.

TL ; DR- It works well, provided you slightly modify your barrel with a file. Only really necessary if you're running a triangle sight or are really OCD over the barrel cutouts being lined up properly.

That's cool, thanks for the info on the adaptor. I was looking at those but don't have a reason/purpose to swap any of my barrels out. I might on the next build...but I might get away with a M16 length WE barrel.

Anyone have the sizes of the orings for the magazine discharge valve? Mine is leaky..

I found an oring kit at a Toronto-based Airsoft store, but they flat out refused to ship lettermail and frankly paying expedited shipping makes no sense since I could just buy a whole new mag for that much.

Where's a good place to buy an oring kit or even the whole valve, that won't charge me $30 in shipping?

Just use grease. It will fix the issue of your leaky mag.

I tried that. Something in there must be really messed up. Silicone bath didn't work, took it apart, cleaned, greased, reassembled, mag still leaked badly enough to actually hear it.

(I'm positive it's the valve too, as I dunked it in water to be sure. It's bubbling out the discharge port.)

For those of you looking for more positive bolt catch engagement in an M4 open bolt, try swapping out your WE magazine release for a RS magazine release. I've noticed my magazine sits a lot more tighter now, and my bolt catch has extended fully every single time I've tested it, as opposed to halfway or less before.

DPMS makes a good catch for ~$3.00. You can find it at Brownells'.

As well, the WE barrel nut's teeth are larger than milspec, so handguards and rails will wobble slightly. I replaced the delta ring and it reduced maybe 25% of the wobble. With a new barrel nut, no wobble even with a handgrip mounted on a rail bolted to the handguard.

Acquired a Closed bolt WE M4 today. Just ordered in the CB -> OB kit and a bunch of magazine conversion kits as well. Its the kit with the tabbed hopup unit for seating the magazines more properly.

Im curious. Aren't the magazine catches different? I'm thinking i'll have to modify them. Also, is there anything I should be careful of/watch out for when replacing the parts?

Thanks.

Also, I'm looking to have the thing properly repainted, duracoat or whatever. Are there kits available, or similar to in canada? Thanks!

As far as I know, The tabs on the Open Chamber conversion kit allows the hop-up to seat properly inside the upper reciever. If your kit is tab-less then your hop-up could end up sitting too far back.

I didn't have to change out my magazine catch, should be fine.

This may not apply to you, but I seemed to have a hard time with the trigger kit, more specifically, the fire selector. Albeit I was a noob back then, I still have much to learn, which might also explain how I ended up losing the safety detent for about an hour. Good luck! I fell in love with my WE M4 tenfold once I installed the OB kit.

To answer all your questions:

When you get the open bolt kit, I would take apart the trigger assembly and grease it up since its as dry as fuck. Alsonuse silicon oil to lubr the nozzle oring. The open bolt kit comes with it own bolt catch that you need to use. The difference beyween the open and the closed bolt catch is that for the open, the top (the actual contact part with the bolt) is sharp vs the closed bolt which is rounded. The closed bolt catch can easily be modded for open bolt, you only need a file or dremel and precision. I would use the OB bolt catch first, wait till it wears out, and then mod the closed bolt catch to use.

In terms of painting, you can order duracoat and airbrush it in your gun. Mind you, duracoat is shipped by UPS ground only (since its a chemical agent) so u will have to pay a hefty duty tax when it arrives. Also, he magazine catch is exactly the same.
