Nice Guy

Tuned it to your liking, does that mean I would have to dremmel and sand down anything or did it just work right out of the box?

I just wanted to let you guys know what I found since reading your posts here.
I do not own a TM Xtreme. I wanted to see how TM carried out the function of full auto. I see the only real difference is the BBU/Breech. From the pics Kev posted I was able to deduce that the grooves for the full auto BBU are almost exactly opposite from a normal TM BBU. The side that makes it full auto is the side that hits the disconnector. Since the groove on that side is no longer present, there is nothing to push down the disconnector...making it full auto. The other side for the valve knocker locker is shortened mainly for gas efficiency. This reduces the time the valve stays open. Which inturn also decrease blowback. The short stroke/buffer is mainly there for "tuning". This increases cycle speed. The reason why the short stroke may be "necessary" is due to the efficiency side. If it does not blow back hard enough it will not induce enough slide travel and also decrease cylcing speed. I have modified a stock BBU to produce the same or better results. Since the long groove of the stock BBU on the valve knocker locker side is 3 times as long as the one on the Xtreme, it produces much stronger blowback, therefore the short stroke is not necessary. BUT! cycling is still not as fast without the short stroke. Now with a short stroke and a long groove for the valve side, it makes for a hard kicking, fast cycling, 300 fps gun. I'm sure it is not nearly as gas efficient. It runs out of gas just at the end of the mag...but so what? It still goes though the whole mag! I am planning on making a short video of it tomorrow (if time allows). I can post pics of the modded BBU (tomorrow) too if anyone wants.

Very interesting and informative. So all that is needed to turn a regular hicapa into full auto is the Blowback unit from the extreme and the bushing on the spring guide. I wonder if the blowback units are available for sale by themselves?

well, like the 4th power just showed you visually, and what i explained back on page 3 of this thread, you can just modify the existing blowback unit (buy the airsoft surgeon one to keep for semi, modify the stock one)
then all you have to do is make your own bushing and you're set. |

Probably not, or the Hicapa Xtreme sales would go downhill

But Styraks probably right that selling the unit by itself could potentially really hurt xtreme sales. Thanks guys |

That doesn't mean a company won't produce an aftermarket "kit". So it is a possiblility.
Oh, I forgot to mention. It does work fine without the plastic addition to the valve knocker locker side. It actually kicks and shoots a bit harder without it, BUT it is not quite as gas efficient. With out it, it will fire about 20-25 bbs and run out of gas. With it, it will empty a full 31 round mag. BTW. Props to Kevorkian and Daiviet without their pics I would've had to buy an Xtreme to figure this out. Thanks guys.

LOL holy smokes, nice job. I'm sure the stock rear sights will blow off, as well as internals wearing down much quicker.

LOL, you're right Hitman, they probably would. I didn't really think about that. But if you'll notice my gun doesn't have sights on it (No need with full auto!! LOL) It is also using stock TM loading nozzle, floating valve + spring, and stock piston head. Running propane (heated mags - I heat them to 105 degrees F). It hasn't broke yet and I've been having so much fun with it I've already went though about 400 rounds with it like that.

As we should know by now, any aftermarket 4.3 slide will work with the Xtreme 4.3
Just wanted to add that I found new "Xtreme/ 4.3" slides. Shooters Design available at DenTrinity.
