Buddy of mine is looking at getting into the sport and wants a 552. But he's scottish so cheaper + effort in repairs = better than upfront cost. That being said, I know of a few JGs that have lasted for quite a while so after a slow painful disassembly, re-greasing and re-shimming, and possibly a couple of new parts in the mechbox, a Cybergun 552 should be pretty good reliability-wise??? Yes, I know cybergun isn't necessarly JG, but if one is just a re-breand of the other, you can kinda see my thought process on this.
That's right, but JG might actually put in better components after purchasing the gun from the manufacturer. I have never owned a JG SIG 552 before, only a Cybergun SIG 552 and currently a TM SIG 552, and the quality of the Cybergun is not bad at all. But I hear that the JG is much better quality than the Cybergun. So basically it's all up to you if you want to spend a little more for quality. Bob the Angry Potato will be getting a BLACK JG SIG 552 really soon and he sells it for $350, but he also has or can get the JG SIG 552 with clear receiver for $320 or you can go to BuyAirsoft.ca and get the Cybergun SIG 552 with clear receiver for $230. If you ask me though, I would pay the extra cash for the JG black version. But that's just me.

Thanks man! This investigation isn't for me....it's for a friend who's a bit on the cheap side. I'm willing to do some mechbox work for him if it gets him into the sport, so if he gets a cybergun 552 Ima take it apart, re-grease, shim, and downgrade the spring...maybe some other stuff too, but at least that for the purposes of CQB safety and longevity. JG tends to run hot, greasy, and poorly shimmed, last I checked. Little bit of this and a little bit of that and a few bucks here and there....if I can weasel the parts out of him his mechbox will have few original parts by the time I'm done

Man...those AEG workshops with tys just make me want to give all mechboxes good compression and efficiency....*sigh*...damn you wallet constraints!!!

On a related note, I will be grabbing a 552....someday. My G36 is all I need right now, and I love it

Um... I just want to point out that the $350 BLACK one Bob the Angry Potato sells is actually Cybergun too, although he puts JG on the ad. At least mine came as a Cybergun instead of a JG .

I bought this one back in the fall.

gamed it once (in subzero temp) and the piston head blew apart.

around $200-$300 later:

-DeepFire titanium tooth piston
-Modify aluminum piston head
-Modify aluminum cylinder head
-Sorbo Pad
-Prometheus M100 spring
-Modify air seal nozzle
-Shim kit
-Modify double-groove stainless bushings
-new Hop up rubber & bucking
-Madbull tightbore barrel
-11V Lipo battery

OK now, after all that, I know my way around a V3 mechbox pretty good, and I've got a really good performing machine. Nice and quiet, precise, and quick on the ROF. Not the way I'd recommend for everyone else to go, but it worked for me.

Don't do this, instead, change the spring. BTW, the gun shouldn't be shooting too high for most fields anyway; the FPS ratings on the box are usually a bit higher than what they really are anyway.

My opinion on the Sig 552 Cybergun

I've owned this gun for sometime now, never had a problem I paid $199 for it at Forest City Surplus in London, Ontario. Great gun ROF is nice, sounds clean. Everything on it IMO is great for the price I've had some serious play time with it and not one issue. I've taken it apart and customized it a bit and I also painted it gunmetal/black.

I can post pics if anyone is interested.

Cybergun Sig 552 Commando Painted

Well heres the pictures of my gun, front flashlight, Handle, and Red Dot on this gun.
I painted it with a gunmetal paint. Enjoy.

Also my camera kinda sucks it's the Cybershot 5mb sony phone it has a defect that they won't repair under warranty it either takes dark pictures or I set the settings up for night and it takes a stupid blury bright picture. Apparently it's a common problem with these phones.

Anyone else with this gun have Miss Fire issues?

I have two Cyberguns the M4 and the Sig, and sometimes I find it shoots like 10-15 shots then misses a few then goes again... any ideas?
My guess is the highcap maybe?

it could be the mag misfeeding, or hopup unit beeing missaligned or it could be a tappet plate problem...

ive just bought a jg sig 553 seals and although its a fantastic gun ,identical to the marui in construction i also had the feeding issues.
cured now ,dont use shitty ics bb,s as the uk importer has told me there slightly oversize compared to exels and cause jamming in some hi caps, there also covered in some form of wax that makes your barrel filthy
