See I knew that you guys could help me out! Thanks guys.

So while all this talk of Tokyo Marui 4.3s and 5.1s is fun and all, it is kind of pointless, because as we all know there is 100% NO CHANCE that a guy could find one of these pistols for sale north of the 49th parallel!

...right

Hmmm, there sure is a lot of empty space left in my message box.

you're age verified, go take a look in the AV retailers and look for the Shao armoury

Oh man, very cool. It's a wonder what you can find on this message board if you actually spend the time looking around a bit eh!

So it looks to me that the TM 4.3 has a rail under the barrel, where as the 5.1 doesn't. This makes me think that if a guy wanted to put a red dot style scope on top of the thing, the 4.3 would be far easier to do this on than the 5.1. I am sure that it could be done on a 5.1 but it looks like a lot more work, right?

Great responses boys, I am learning a lot today!

Thanks

Gord

the 5.1 comes with a rail, and pre drilled holes on the inside for mounting it, just need to punch the holes out.

most people usually opt to drill and tap the frame itself for mounting a scope mount

The 5.1 has a rail attatchment that comes in the box, you need to punch out 2 holes in the bottom of the frame though (it comes with all the necessary stuff, so you don't need to purchase anything else) Although you'll find most people will buy a red dot mount that attaches by drilling and tapping the frame, rather than the undermount one like nineball makes. Plus I'm not sure, but I think the nineball rail mount only works with the 5.1 style rail, not the 4.3 frame.

This one is strictly for the 5.1. Plus it also rides much higher up on the gun compared to a frame mounted rail.

This is nineball's other one, which is neat since it attaches via grip screw and slide release mechanism.

Gord, frame mount bases are easily available. I have at least two listed in my sales thread.

More styles are also available, such as this trick carbon fibre one:

Stupid question No. 19, paragraph 4; I have always found the grip of the Colt 1911 to be really comfortable in my hand. I think that its because the hand grip area where the magazine goes in, is thinner in profile than many of the more modern guns.

My question is, does the Hi-Capa have the same sized grip as the 1911, or is the grip area on the gun wider to compensate for the double stacking magazine?

Just wondering

Gord

The Tanio Koba tactical grip is much closer to the shape and feel of a 1911 than the standard Hi-capa style grips!

I dont think flared magwells will work with a TK grip.

Might consider one of those....made by KJ, looks to have the "shape" of the TK grip(which KJ also makes), but with regular magwell lip so you can install a magwell with no problem(in theory)....

Grip comes stock with the new KJW Hi-Capa....
