I guess the forum handle is just more recognizable? But I have a freaking pony gif as an avatar.
I really don't know why any noob would take me more seriously on here than facebook lol

my god man.....you joined FB airsoft groups hoping to expound knowledge upon the scrub masses? you are brave.

Also, only a dumbass would walk into a library and ask where the books are.

When you walk into a community that's been around and active for a long time.. any community, there's going to be a vast history of knowledge available. The same questions get asked over many times over the years, it's not specific to airsoft that matured communities will tell new people to use the search function for basic questions and knowledge. People get tired of having to spoon feed questions that are the equivalent to 'how do I put on pants?'

on ASM you won't even get any replies to those types of questions, everyone will tell you to search and learn and formulate more specific questions.

Like TC's irrational hate for G&P internals, if you ask, "between vfc and g&p, are the self shimming gears any better than g&p's shitty gears, or would you expect to replace either within X number of gear box cycles"

See now that's a question that has some research behind it. You're asking about 2 premium level guns that are in the same price range, that are reputed to have good externals, but both have internals that some people love or hate. That's a reasonably informed question.

Vs

WTB new awsum pewgun. What are awsumer? APS or G&P?

I remember when I joined people where helpful, informative and polite to me.

Although I did a fair amount of research myself, something's are more difficult to wrap your head around then other of course. I still ask questions to this day, but that's because so much has changed in the last 2 years away from this place.

I was hoping for a "Burn the heretics" option on the poll but I didn't see one.

As for the sticky threads, a lot of them are HORRIBLY outdated. The vast quantities of information held on this forum is staggering. Unfortunately a lot of links in the sticky's are old and no longer working. This makes searching them painful as some of them just have broken links now.

I would more than happily volunteer to help clean up some of the threads as other posters have stated. I love this forum and I would gladly help clean out old shit.

Oh I forgot the "dont import guns yourself" thread lol

Some noobs want info thats TOO precise. "When are the gears in my g&p gonna fail?"
"Most likely within a few games, rarely into next season, one in a hundred they wont"
"Can you be more specific? Like how many rounds can I expect to shoot before it breaks?"

Which is like asking how many revolutions your crankshaft should make before you change the oil

ASC's been great for me, lots of good information and helpful people on here. I usually take my time looking for information on any problems I run into and if I don't find anything, or if the issue is unique, I usually defer to the infinite wisdom of ASC for help.

That said, I think its the overall attitude of new members which people don't like. Its 2014 and a lot of information is easily accessible, but I still find that a lot of people don't bother doing a 5 second google search, and instead, just want to be spoonfeed exactly what they want to know, right then and there. Its not that they're not well informed, its more that they're ignorant and don't bother taking the time to read up on what they want to know.

On another note, I miss melded springs.

What are you talking about? G&P is the best, they totally never shred gears and are lipo ready out of the box, their 6mm bushings are the best. I heard about a 16 year old who used an 11.1V 4000 mah 40C pack in their G&P and it didn't blow up.

On ASC - ThunderCactus sounds like a cool name
ON FB - Frank B - sounds like a boring name who wants to listen to that guy

There route of the problem solved.

I personally like ASC everything in one place and not spread out over 40,000,000 different FB pages all bitching about the same thing over and over, oh wait someone got their panties in a bunch make that 40,000,001 FB pages now.

But wait guys, there's a new forum where we can post all our games at and discuss airsoft. We should all join that forum instead of this one!

I definitely have noticed the incredible irony that people have never been so connected to vast amounts of information, and for some reason would rather take the time to ask us to provide a "let me google that for you" link, rather than spend the 5 seconds to search for it on google temselves.

Part of that problem is that the ability to accept and act on direction is a learned skill, similarly and inverse to leadership.

Lots of new users lack that skill, get burned, go elsewhere and expound half-cocked understandings of stuff, then come back here to lurk when disproven in person.

Most people just lurk because they're smart enough to keep their boots clean.

facebook is not great for useful, archival information. It's a place for self indulgence of post whoring and self appreciation.

And cat pictures.
