Gen 2 ARES differs from gen 1 in the following ways:
- Permission to use the HK marking and G36 trade dress (a big deal, HK and its friend Umarex have a team of lawyers and they're not afraid to use them)
- One-piece upper receiver
- One-piece outer barrel (with barrel lock closer to the real G36)
- More realistic gas block design
- New shoulder stock (with lock closer to the real G36)
- New magazine (50rd locap with fake bullets)
- Locking bolt cover
- Electric blowback system (for the haters, it can be disabled)
- Couple other little things

Kos-Mos: STAR had the microswitch design from the beginning, as did gen 1 ARES.
Mine didn't had the micro switch. So maybe they added it later in the production line, since I had the 3rd Star G36 to enter Canada... kinda early in the product life.

Is the Gen 2 out yet?

Err

What did you think it was?

Mag behind trigger = bullpup...

Same as FAMAS or AUG...

And with that statement, I HIGHLY recommend you handle a G36 and L85 before buying. Bullpups and standard rifles feel way different and are balanced way different. Especially a G36 and L85. The '36 has ALL of the weight over and forward of the pistol grip, whereas the L85 has a lot of weight behind the pistol grip.

Go to a game and check out some gear before committing.
