Man, I just wanted to thank you.
I met with an AV'er last week so I'm just waiting till it goes through (not complaining!). I know as a non AV'd noob not to ask any questions, so this is a godsend for me while I wait. Thanks! |

prices of GBB rifles going down?
Hi everyone, noob thread right? I haven't visited here in years, and haven't been following airsoft for a long time. It seems the price of GBB rifles have gone down quite a bit? The last time I checked, a GBB was going for about $2000. I've seen some sites offering brand new ones for around $500? In Canada?
On top of that, seems like it's ok to buy non-clearsoft now? Some of these GBB come with full metal uppers and lowers? Or is that still for law-enforcement only?

The clear/tinted thing is to deal with an importation issue, more or less. It's not really a problem once it's in country.
If this is your first gun I'd go for an AEG. Since you're AVed, start window shopping in these sections: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/forumdisplay.php?f=179 http://www.airsoftcanada.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8 |

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've already got an AEG....haha, and it's a wallhanger since I've never played, but I was just wondering out of sheer curiosity if the trend is going towards GBBs. It seems like the prices for them have dropped drastically so since they're more accessible that before, are more and more people using them? I remember the prices of mags was stupid expensive for these.

Burdell where did you get that info? There's several threads dedicated to the workings and quality and none agree with your statement.
Back on track, yes GBBRs have gotten slowly cheaper and cheaper. I remember in late 2009 buying a GBBR and then bought the same one again a few months ago and it was almost half the price of what I originally paid. Both new in box. So yes prices seem to be slowly declining. |

Be aware that you have no idea what you are talking about and that no one cares about the opinion of someone who joined less than a month ago.

It does seem to trend towards that however but they would need a lot more support and knowledge built around them. Think of it this way. Between technology A (TA), technology B (TB), and technology C (TC). TA came out first (this is your old school classic airsoft with remote lines and tanks), TB "revolutionized" the overall game/technology and because it had a good 15+ year run a lot of knowledge was built around making it better via aftermarket parts and incremental design improvements, TC comes along and it's "cool" but just doesn't have the built up "tacit knowledge" surrounding it to make those incremental improvements, for a bunch of companies to figure out the design and how to make it better and gain a great amount of market share for the time being. I suspect that you'll probably see ~25-30% of players using them 5 years from now and market share will go up, possibly to around 50/50 mix overall. Does that make sense? PS: I'm planning on going the classic airsoft route myself, maybe grab a GBBR if it proves itself to be awesome but for now my AEG will do.

Be aware that list is grossly out of date.
