You'd have to actually be nuts to pay $400 for the regular issued gortex boots. I bought my issue gortex boots for not even 1/4 of that price (not the newest ones now, but close enough)

As for the newer gortex boots, I kind of like them when I had the chance to wear them one day. Nice and comfortable I found. However, I still wear the MKIIIs more.

BTW the gore-tex ones suck pretty bad, same with the desert ones, so I'm really hopping that for 350$, these are some very very good boots. MkIII's are still the best if you are lucky enough to get your hands on a pair of the ones that have vibram soles. Only people I have seen with them are Navy dudes and they are really comfortable.

Thats why you get your MKIIIs resoled with Vibrams, it has nothing to do with luck, its a personal kit mod.

As for the wet weather boots, they are the cats ass once you replace the sole (if you have the pre-recall boot), so it doesn't freeze up in the winter.
