TM compatible is good... But TM is better.
Seriously, Just because something is supposed to fit on a TM doesn't mean it will. Plus, stock TM's are amazing. My hi-capa has been going a little over a year now, bone stock, i treat it badly, and it still shoots like a dream!

Let say if you are have enough budget then start from WA or TM.
Ok ! guys, we knew that TM or WA are good gun to start from but not all the guys around here are willing to cost leg or arm to get hand on those so let stop take topic on TM , WA or whatever it is and concentrate on person who want answer. Back to topic, as for me I would choose Army MEU than KJW, I handle both and experience both of them, KJW can't beat any crap out Army MEU like 100 % TM Compatible, reliable or etc.. again, Army MEU it's not reliable as TM but it's ok gun for person who want pistol hanging around or back up on occasion and to be honest, I always though to use that pistol for those reason above but I just dropped more than 800 rds in it before let it goes and it's still working like charm. A buddy of mine got KJW 1911 and broke right of the box. You should get the idea, right ?

I agree. You shouldn't dictate what we spend our money on. That is 'our' decision.
Clones can be a gamble to buy, which is true. Unless the person is a newbie that doesn't know any better you'd have your right to chime in like so. I just wanted to inquire of the quality so I can get some info from someone that has actually handled something from this brand. |

I've been shooting ~5 mags daily for target practice (that's a minimum, on weekends I usually shoot more) for the last two months, and no problems at all with my ARMY.
Add to that 3 months of "normal use" (occasional plinking, a game day every two weeks). Apart from the loading nozzle that broke quite early, everything else is going perfectly! Note that I don't have any experience on KJW guns, so I can't directly compare.

Can't fix my own guns. Willing to fix yours.

I dont see how there is much of a discussion on clones vs TM, the clones are about 250-260 after taxes, if you buy a KJW from a store, and a TM is 300, meaning only 40 bucks more for a gun that WILL last forever, rather than a gun that may last a few weeks, seems like the better purchase to me...

I personally own a ARMY MEU. I love the thing. of course a TM would be even better, but i simply ran into a ARMY armament, and bought it... I'm not disapointed with my purchase. Like Strelok said, we should answer the question thats asked, not answer to the question you think he should have asked... lol. Last edited by mas_oyama; December 23rd, 2009 at 08:50.. |

As for clone, Let say about 300 $ you can get an Army M1911A1 MEU with extra mag, that mean it's huge a mount different. Most of beginner wouldn't spend that much on TM as the their first pistol when they only use it on some occasion at the game and plinking at home. I knew that they got what they paid for. To be honest, I had used more than 10 to 15 pistol once I start airsoft from a crappy brand to high end and the best thing is I only get one confirm kill each with one of them. The point is I barely used them while my primary never fail me.

Another thing to consider is the availability of certain models of TM GBB's.
Hi-Capa's are relatively easy to come by. Other models, not so much. In the case of the MEU (or stock 1911), you'll need to source a metal grip/frame assembly. While metal slides for pistols such as the Hi-Capa are easy enough to get, and the fact that the Hi-Capa's mid-frame is already metal, add a metal slide & outer barrel/chamber and you have a FMU GBB. The problem here with regards to the MEU is that not only is it difficult to source a metal frame, they are typically sold as a kit which includes both the slide and frame. As we all know, only one component of that package, the slide, can be easily imported. Good luck with the frame. Do I recommend TM's? Hell, yeah! I have a 1911, 4.3, and 5.1. All of them awesome! But, I also recently acquired an Army MEU (which I need to do some work on), and a Cansoft KJW Glock 23 (which is surprisingly good for what it is). I've taken a pass on the TM MEU for the reasons stated above (and their current availability). Trying to source restricted components for certain models can be a pain, and you pay a premium for it. While it may be worth it for some if their primary love is for pistols, but for those of us that use them intermittently, it may not be the most worthwhile allocation of funds. Not to mention the wait time involved in getting what you need - if at all. That said, so long as you know what you're getting into with a clone, and are willing to put a few extra dollars into it, I think certain clones can be worthwhile. Going with something that is mostly TM compatible will help to alleviate some of the headache if things need to be tweaked or fixed. |

There's always been the tug of war between getting a full metal pistol vs. getting a "better" pistol and "having" to upgrade it to metal.
Common arguments...all of which are true: - metal kits are expensive - the lemon/fail rate of a TM pistol is very, very low - Plastic pistols might run for a long, long time without any issue on duster (which they're designed for)...and maybe on propane (which is pushing them beyond their original spec). - metal feels good - "upgrading" stock pistols is one of the fastest ways to ruin a perfectly good pistol - cheap full metal pistols might work (i.e. the shoot a bb out when you pull the trigger) but they probably don't have the fine points/finishes done nicely If you want a cheap full metal pistol and really just intend on using it occasionally or not at all...get whatever you want. If you want a gaming pistol...then go for reliability and performance. If you don't end up using it as much as you thought...then you've "over-spent" regardless of what you've bought. "Compatibility" in gas blow backs is greatly abused. You might luck out and everything is drop in....you might blow $100 and the part may not work for no obvious reason. All you're doing by going the TM route is hedging your bets. Personally I'd buy a TM 1911/MEU and upgrade to a frame/slide kit...which is mega bucks and why I haven't done it yet. Best of luck, Tys |

Personally...I've owned several KJW pistols that have just worked. Shot after shot for lots of shots.
None were spectacular or very refined in their fit and finish...but they shot. I wouldn't start with one to build a custom gun, but I wouldn't hesitate to game one and beat it about. Aside from the large gas consumption and so-so mags, they're just fine. I've been known to fiddle with things on occasion ...and they didn't lend themselves well to modding. |

Thanks to everyone who voiced their opinion about the guns and I've decided to go with the ARMY 1911.
Thanks, Mike |

My SOCOM GEAR 1911 MEU, has lasted about 15,000 rounds of just shooting, only one broken mag. All stock but the recoil spring and hammer spring.
