No i would not use a 11.1v lipo in a stock JG. I've worked on my friend's, and he's put about 10,000 rounds through his with an 8.4v and the piston already has wear. With a 11.1v, it would probably rip right through the piston after a few thousand rounds esp on full auto

I have to say that LiPo is definitely awesome. The trigger response, size, capacity and RoF are amazing.

Like a lot of battery packs, there's a huge range of performance from "11.1v LiPo's". Anyone who sees "11.1v" and flippantly cries out that it'll destroy your gun, shred your gears and eat your babies isn't thinking it through and giving you the full story.

11.1v 1100mAh 15C "stock tube" LiPo's will make your rifle run just about as fast as a fully charged 8.4v large SubC pack or a mini 9.6v pack.

A 11.1v 2200mAh 35C pack will make your motor scream and it'll be ungodly fast with a big motor.

Either way...depending on your rifle's setup, it'll last 10's of thousands of rounds, die within the first mag...or somewhere inbetween.

Frequently, the 2nd tooth of the piston is removed. If the motor/gears are turning so fast (either because of gear ration, motor speed, battery power...or combo of those factors)....the spring power might not be large enough to return the piston all the way forward so that the sector gear picks up the right tooth when it spins around for another shot. If the sector gear picks up too early, it'll jam the piston back (and it'll run out of room in the mechbox) and will either lock up or strip the teeth off a gear or the piston. Take a look at a high speed-ish AEG piston. Quite often there'll be some nicks on the 3rd tooth where the sector gear has contacted early.

The issue with jams is a bit more severe...and it's not limited to LiPo's. If there is a jam and essentially the barrel is plugged...if the piston is retracted and let go, it'll start compressing the air in the cylinder and if it can't push it out, the piston will freeze (stopped by the compressed air trapped in the cylinder). If it freezes and another shot is triggered, the sector gear will come around again and pick up the wrong tooth of the piston....It'll pull it back, jam and/or strip something.

Short answer...11.1v low C rating LiPo batteries are fine for just about anything. Higher C rating batteries will provide way more Amps than your rifle needs and will result if a high ROF.

If you want more "regular" power in a small format...consider a 7.4v 2xxx mAh 20C pack.

Ah, thanks Tys. Wasn't quite sure what the other dude meant about the piston not being able to come forward. Now I get it.
Never had that problem. Must take alot to trap the cylinder like that.

You're very right about the different lipos. Been using the KA 11.1v 1300mah. Love it.

And about Ginnz other question, the one about the hop up. No, that is not normal. What weight bb are you using? A .12 crappy tire bb might do that or else something is wrong.

Yep, I've been using Zippy Lipo's from HobbyCity and they are great. They come to about $20 per pack if you buy several as the shipping really hurts to buy a single battery.

You may have damaged your hop-up sleeve using the crappy .12 bbs.
Not a hard project for a hobbyist. Cheap part.

Or you may just need heavier bb's. http://ascmart.ca/ I recomend getting some .25 bb bastard bb's. Yes that's the name. They're pretty much the best bb you can get too.

well guys, just an update, i have 12000 rounds trough this stock rig already, running the 11.1v lipo, and she's going strong. and when i pull the lipo off the charger, and all cells are at 4.20v, she's got a vicious rate of fire! the fresh lipo gives it that "extra pop", thats for sure.

this is my first "real" airsoft gun, and ive gotta say, IMO, these JG M4's are pretty solid in a stock setup.....

It is nuts to try a 4000 mah 40C 11.1v with Systema magnum motors............................................ ...................................

wait thats what I run in my M4's and AK's
Of course I can fix them "should" something go awry.

I recently broke a piston and cracked the front end of a JG 2008 mechbox with an M120 and Li-Po. My JG HK416 mechbox is still going strong though. It's hit and miss really depending on a few things. Definitely take it easy on the trigger. Do not dry fire and a sorbo will really help.
