I bought a box of 5 King Arms 68rds metal M4 mags and though they wobble side to side a bit, did some test firing with 4 mags worth, no issues yet. Only real problem was that they wouldn't slide out when i hit the mag release but it was just a matter of working them in, I found they slide out better now after doing some quick reloading practices.

UPDATE 02 MAY -Testing with MAG magazines

I wanted to use VN style mags in the G36 because normal STANAG ones look like ass. So I ordered a set of MAG VN mags. They came in the other day, and I did some testing with them.

First off, these things are TIGHT in the reciever. And I don't mean date-on-prom-night tight, I mean barley fits it at all tight. I pulled one mag out of the magwell and the top part of the mag stayed in! Out of 7 mags, 2 of them wouldn't fit.

The problem is that they sit too far forward. This was fixed by filing down the guides in the back of the magwell. They lock in nicely now (with much less movement than the KA metal ones), but still don't feed. The issue seems to be the alignment of the magwell with the hop-up. The mags themselves feed fine. When a mag is inserted, one round gets placed in the hop-up but after firing nothing else feeds. I'm currently trying to troubleshoot this issue, but whenever I do manage to get them to feed I can't seem to reproduce it. Still playing with it.

edit (again): Seems that with the nut over the magwell restraining pin, it pushes it up into the receiver by about 0.5mm. This is enough to cause it to missfeed. Removing the nut and pulling down and left on the magwell ever so slightly it seems to feed fine. Ok, source of problem found... now a solution needs to be found lol.
I have the complete opposite experience. Trying TM metal and King arms plastic mags - they all wobble and misfeed. I have MAG plastic VN (vietnam) mags however and they are absolutely perfect. They click in securely, come out smoothly, etc.

But I have the Private Parts adapter, not the SOCOM Gear one.

Yea, I'm almost kicking myself I got the SOCOM Gear one. Once I get my gun shooting again I'll do some more testing and hopefully I can get it working right.

The private parts magwell is something like $25. Save yourself the hassle. I would recommend just buying it outright if you want to use the MAG VN mags because I can tell you they work perfectly. It also has better color to match the CA G36.

Maybe not so much...

I also had the PP magwell adapter for a G36 I was building/fixing, and it never worked right. Replaced it with a regular JG G36 magwell.

Got questions about the Private Parts magwell converter.

How durable is it compared to the SocomGear and how well does it fit a CA36 (since the SocomeGear 1 stated it required a "slight modification" but didn't).

DENTrinity is the only place so far I've found the PP magwell converter.

EDIT: found another 1 from BattleAxe @ EBanned and I think EHobby had it too. Inside, it looks as though theres less room on the sides for the mags to wobble.

I got my privateparts magwell from airsoftparts.ca I dont think they carry it anymore though...

It seems really solid, Its not ABS like my JG G36, its like a nylon polymer, what the CA bodies are made out of i belive.

Best of luck,
-Ben

Funny, Den states they have it "in" so I guess they either don't update their site with what they actually have in stock or they just lie. Think I'll shoot them an email sometime during the week.

I had a really hard time tracking down a PP one. That's the main reason I got the SOCOM Gear one.
