You could stick an 11.1v Lipo pack into the foregrip...it'd probably fit no problem (careful with the sizing...it's tight).
As to whether or not the mechbox would hold up to it...I'd say no, not in stock form. But neither would a TM, Echo1, JG, TSD, Cyma, etc... At least, not for long. Big batteries can provide a lot of sustained power to the motor. The motor turns the 5 gears and the mainspring is compressed. FPS primarily is affected by the mainspring...but is also affected by the airseal/compression/barrel length of everything else. The battery size has zero effect on the FPS (unless your aeg is setup improperly with a mismatched cylinder). Big batteries result if high ROF...and hopefully your motor is sized to deal with that much power at the resistance load level of the mainspring/gear-ratio. For example...with a stock gear ratio, 8.4v large 2200mah battery, and a M90-ish spring...it's entirely possible to hit 1200rpm at 340-350fps w/ 0.20g bbs. That's insanely fast and not necessary for any public games (at least around here). It's fun though... If you didn't get/understand the last 3 sections...stick to "standard" stuff until you get a better handle on what's what. Get what you want, with whatever look you want. The worst that can happen is that you don't end up liking what you picked...and have to buy another. |

I like my ICS sd1, only complaint is on the full stocks sometimes the battery door gets jammed.

I rock a jg mp5 ras sliding stock at 410 fps. Love the ras front and metal body. Battery goes in foregrip.
Compact, super-solid and mean. Also comes with a nice scope mount for an aimpoint. My other is a echo1/marui/systema mp5k pdw. Just like Invasian, I LOVE it. 350 fps, high rof, super light and small. I often use it as a primary. It light weight makes it great for reflexive shooting. I always recommend sliding stock. It gives you a lot more freedom for crawling, running, tight spots. The sd series looks cool but that front end is limited for upgrades.

JG isn't a bad starting platform. Swag upgraded the internals on my wifes MP5 RAS and it works awsome. I think we've had it just shy of a year now and the thing still rocks.

Classic Army MP5s already come with both flash hiders (regular tri-lug and navy style), at least mine did.

+1, however I'd love to get my hands on one of the new CA full metal B&T MP5K with the "SEF" fire selector switch.

+1, but with a few notes...
Spare mags are tough to find. Everyone's been out of them for a while: Tirador just found some for me after a couple of months of hard searching. The gun needs to be upgraded if one wants to run propane/GG. Upgraded, it may also be fieldable outdoors, as it brings the m.v. to around 320 FPS give or take a dozen depending on temperature. Needless to say, you can't run 'em outdoors when it's cold. ROF is... impressive. Louis |

as for preference, id go with a full stock version. not only does it hold a large battery the gun feels more solid. also for the fact that mp5s with batteries on the handguard are much harder to fit in than batteries that go on the stock. |

Totally agreed. A collapsible stock can come in handy at times, but really, I weight it as which comes in handier more often - a large battery, or a sliding stock. 90% of the time, I'd have the stock fully extended. 100% of the time, my large 8.4V 2500 mAh battery is useful.
