Well's L96 is a good PLATFORM to start upgrading.

I got a Well G22 (which uses all the internals of the L96) and off the bat, it is not that great. Actually, most GBB will outperform it in stock form.

You have to drop at least 1000$ JUST IN AFTERMARKET parts to make it precise and reliable enought to use it in a game.

You will then have maybe 10-20' extra range over a same priced AEG.
The main advantage is that you will actually be able to hit something at that range.
Second, a well built sniper rifle will be dead silent. That way, you will be a lot harder to spot IF YOU ARE ABLE to crawl, move and gather intel silently.

Being a sniper is not about the gun. Hell! I yet have to go through 1000 bbs. Bought the bag last summer and it is still over half. I most of the time have my secondary in my hands and the sniper rifle slinged on my back.

Hear me, if we where able to make AEGs as silent and as accurate (talking about grouping, not range) as a BA rifle, that is what "Snipers" would be using.

If you want an idea of what sniping is like, get CoD4, and play the sniper levels. That is what it should be like in AS. Up to the part where you shoot the Barret .50. You spend over 2 hours just to get in position, only to take one shot and try to flee.

Please speak only when you know what you are actually talking about. An unverified person like yourself doesn't know what guns are going for in the B&s section, and I've yet to find one for $250.

Ganonman, as it has already been said, getting a sniper as your primary is not a smart move. If your expecting to be just like it is in the movies or video games, you'll be greatly dissapointed. If your starting out, get an AEG.

Please fill in your profile information as well, such as your age even if your underage. If your under 18, wait until you are. If you are an adult, find a verifier nearest you and shop to your hearts content.

Technically, this is true, if you run to your spot. But since sniping is about so much more than running and kills, most people actually use fieldcraft and tactics to get to their spot unseen. But I guess if the only thing you have experiance with is Counter-Strike you wouldn't know that.

That's not an absolute rule.

As a sniper, I run a lot if I get discovered.
So, no, running don't get me owned or I prefer, killed.

I move that we entertain the concept of letting new users get sniper rifles.
However, we do tell them atleast once that is it a bad idea. Afterwards when they get it and try to game it and get horribly roasted on the field by insane amounts of BB fire that they could never hope to keep up with. We refer them back to the post that that we told them not to purchase a sniper rifle and tell them "we told you so".

Well ShortBus whether this website approves of it or not, underagers have been aquiring airsoft guns through many different means and routes for many years now. Either way even if he did get it he wouldnt be able to play in an event anyways.

Whatever. You still have absolutly zero concept of sniping (or anything else, for that matter) in airsoft. Stop offering advice.

The only issue with that is I wouldn't feel comfortable with some nob who's only ever played computer games shooting at me with a 400+FPS rifle. I trust most airsoft players not to take a headshot when the body presents itself. I can't say the same for n00bs who are used to getting extra points for them.

Aha, you make a very very very excellent point. Does any company make 6mm 0.01g bbs? we can give them those instead.
