By the way, I'm just saying what's on everyone's mind.
I asked already lol

HAHA! Should've known someone already jumped on the slight possibility of a new retailer.

I have been asked by a few people here already, and I haven’t ruled it out.

My response to everyone so far has been the same (see below).

If someone can enlighten me on the legalities, I would be willing to entertain the idea.

Quite frankly, I don’t know what the laws are pertaining to selling these guns to individuals. I know that we can have everything from full auto to suppressors for real firearms and have a letter from CBSA allowing us to import anything firearms related.

Since this is our livelihood, we don’t play in the grey area.

You had better check your license regarding replicas. Other training centers have been denied importation for replicas, because their license did not include it. As far as I know, the only license available is for "Prohibited Devices for Motion Picture and Theatrical Use".

I know that gun importers can not import replicas. Dewats yes, replicas no.

We are not new to the game of erroneous gvt regs, just airsoft.

We have in the past imported airsoft for our training purposes but they were low quality 1/1 springers. I just need to know where the law sits on retail.

Technically, you can't retail them. Unless the buyer has a license to possess prohibited devices (specifically replica firearms). No individual can possess them, the license is for businesses only.

So the answer is no to retail.

But how do we all get our guns? We all had to buy them from somewhere, right? That's a whole other topic worthy of dozens of posts, my friend.

Quite the contrary. In spring of 2006, there were 12 airsoft retailers in Canada. By fall, there were 3. A few had their licenses revoked, 2 were prosecuted, and the rest got out due to fear of the consequences or the hassle from the CBSA were not worth it. The last of the importers (A&A) just got about 2 weeks ago.

Now, all there is for importers are a few guys doing 1s and 2s of this and that. Nothing like what we had only 2 years ago.

You could say the CBSA is very good at catching you and making your life miserable. They will allow some shipments in, let everything flow smoothly. They lull you in when you get greedy, because people are beating down your door for guns and the money is flowing in. Then, when you make a big order and all looks good, WHAM!!!! They seize the order, even though they let the same one in 2 weeks before. Now, you face a fine, lost goods and your license disappears. I've seen it happen.

Most retailers don't recover from $10,000 in lost goods. There are no mass-market retailers in Canada with deep pockets. The law doesn't allow for it.

Read this:

This is a pretty good overview of the law and the stance of enforcement agencies.

Interesting,

We do training for CBSA, I will ask around and see what I can come up with. Sounds like I should get them to sign an agreement with our lawyers if they give any indication of a green light.

If it will help bring a couple bucks in for our business and help your community as well I am happy to look into this further.

Of course, as stated earlier I will in no way compromise our existing businesses by playing in the grey area.

Sincerely,

Travis Bader

... That would be most excellent.. But please... I don't want to have to pay 700 dollars for a 350 dollar Marui

If you could keep prices at a healthy 400-500 dollars... You'd make me a very happy person.

Make that two very happy people. Hell, I'm sure we could speak for damn near everyone here if we had a retailer with a green light from CBSA.

what if your not 'buying' the AEG, but rather, buying a 99 year lease for the same price?
