They come from Battlefield, or Counter-Strike. Or they just think that sniping is cool because it's in TV and movies. And they're most likely young as well.

Sniping IS cool. Nothing beats seeing the face of your target right before he dies.

its the thought of it thats appealing. Sniping isnt boring jesus quit discouraging the guy. They are right in this however, get an AEG get into the game see what its like could be alot different than what you may think. Sneakin around isnt boring often enough im able to sneak into the midst of things and sneak around for some time and then pick out people quietly and maybe even call in a fireteam via radio and tell them where to infiltarate from.

it can be a difficult position to play and you do have to rely/guess on how the other team is gonna react and when it is and isnt appropriate to move.

Sniping isn't boring? Maybe not in a skirmish, but in MilSim... it is QUITE boring.

I wish I had a huge annoying signature.

All I have is a small annoying signature.

Unless they know what they are doing. BUT, in the best interest of gathering intel for the team, I have spent 2 solid hours in place watching movement from WAY out of rifle range from the base we were defending. Yes, boring all to hell, but I lucked out because two of the guys ffrom the other team strolled up the out of bounds road after those two hours, over to my corner of the field (literally it's an almost non-used are of the field) and came within 50ft of me thinking they could observe the base defenses. A couple MP5 bursts later, they couldn't believed be in such a remote place.

Yes, sniping can be VERY boring!!!!

I am new and sniping sounds fun, but that is thanks to movies/computer games. I am definitely gonna stick with a normal AEG role until i get to know the game better and perhaps try sniping a few times (not to mention the fact that i don't have the cash to buy a sniper setup :P )

Sniping is very demanding. But it is also rewarding to know that you are in a key position to relay enemy movements to your team. Knowing your environment and weapon is key. Knowing when to take a shot or let the enemy slip by. If you find sniping is not entirely for you, look at counter-sniping. Bottom line is you won't know until you try. get out to games, meet and greet players. Ask some our vet snipers advice like Sha Do or CDN_Stalker. These are the ghosts of the airsoft sniping world and can no doubt impart tons of fantastic knowledge which will help you determine if sniping, counter sniping or sticking with assault are for you.

Cheers, and welcome to the sport.

**EDIT**
And like stated above, be prepared to drop some serious bucks on having a worthwhile sniping platform. My bushmaster is up to $1400 and I'm not done upgrading it fully yet.

It might explain why. I also happen to hate CS freaks. I play a lot of Battlefield myself, never had the slightest desire for a sniper rifle.

I play BF2. Always as a sniper. Always get the most kill with less death. But sniping is far from realistic in that game lol
