That's for sure.

That happened at a CQB game here (not the only time). Guy stuck his wrist and pistol around a corner at head level and strarted fieing into a dark stairwell. I was right there, leaned in and hit him in the wrist with a 350 FPS rifle on full auto from 8 inches away. I'm sure it hurt. You may say I was wrong for doing so, but I really don't care, my face was right there where he was blind fireing. And I"ve also been shot in the kneck from about 1.5 feet from some asshole blind fireing.

That why at most fields blind fieing is prohibited.

i wasnt implying that i blind fire, i always look where im aiming otherwise i wouldnt need to SEE my BBs now would i?
what i meant was that if your using a pistol or MP7, you hide behind cover and have nothing but your hand(in a realistic firing position, no 90 degree B.S.) and your head exposed, thus using cover properly. If i have an AEG, ill sit back a bit from cover and lean outwards, again only exposing what i need and in a realistic firing position.
and if you hate blind firing, ever seen the video for operation irene 4? theres a guy entering a barn and firing his M60 90 degrees to his right at full extension of his arms into the barn. It was one of the saddest moments of airsoft

I think you can buy a mag actually with a light in it and it will illuminate the bb's for you without seeing the tracer unit light up.

Just get a decent tac light. They illuminate BBs out to a fair distance.

TC is right, a taclight will illuminate your BB stream from behind and act as a quasi tracing agent that allows you to correct the bullet stream visually. I've used this technique successfully in CQB with several guns and it is highly effective, the only drawback being that you reveal your position when the light comes on. You can try this technique just by holding a taclight alongside your gun in the direction of fire. Make sure your beam is lined up well because side spill doesn't light the BBs well enough to see them.

QFT.

I was reffing a game at Xtreme Tactics one night and some noob encountered an enemy around a corner, ducked back, immediately stuck his gun around the corner and blatantly blind fired the mag dry. Now in the briefing video you are specifically told several times NOT to do this. I lined up the 400 fps AK and fired one round down at him into his thigh (I'm up on the ref tower about 5 feet in front of him).

He groans, grabs his leg, and keels over as the guy he was shooting at laughs and goes, "HAHA loser, that's what you get for blind firing!"

if tracers are a no go... (you could always mod a magazine)
id go with a 1.5x-4.5 scope. 3x can be a bit much for airsoft but co-witnessing a 1.5 mag wont cause to much disorientation. you can usually find one of these scopes for about $50USD. I use a NCStar 2-6x32 and its great. I would think twice about the IR scopes though. Red and green lights don't mess with your night vision but they can be distracting. Must scopes that have IR will also allow you to turn of the IR feature.

I sometimes use the tracer rounds WITHOUT a tracer unit, you just have to charge the BB's up with a light source before you load them into the clip.

They will generally only look realy flashy for 10-20mins depending on which type you purchase and their quality, however even after this time the BB's will be much more visable then standard ammunition for a fair while ( dull glow but, still a glow. )

They are generally expensive so I suggest mixing them with standard white ammunition; this gives you a reference shot every 5-10 rounds and allows you to adjust fire rather easily.

Properly adjusted scopes will also improve your accuracy at range, I am using a x4 and see my BB appear very clearly at about 3-5 meters and assuming I am stationary while I fire can see the path of the BB all the way upto it's target even in low lighting conditions.

Flashlights make a better BB magnet then a targeting tool... they are excellent for breaching into dark area's though, The blinding light of a high power multi LED flashlight can make it nearly impossible for any hostile looking down your line of fire to know whats going on at the other end of your gun.

a clip? why would you use tracer BBs in a Mauser 98 rifle?
mount an LED inside a magazine with a on off switch, that will charge the BBs, fairly easy to install too

Tac light or tracer unit are your only options.

RDS with a good tac light.

Sight your RDS(preferably the doctor style) during the day at your preferred engagement range. Take some tests for CQB and their ya go. The light will help to confirm your hit(it shouldn't be on to watch your bb fly through the air, that's a definite way to get hit yourself).

You will have to have faith in your sights.
Personally I wouldn't use any large scope for CQB. Your only going to see the guys zits at such a close range.

and yes, blind firing is extremely gay.

I use a 4X Bushnell Scope on my M4 and it works great, I can always see where the bullet is going.
