I just ordered my CA8-2 from A&A. Cant wait to get it!!! Its essentially an G36 with a slew of upgrades from the factory, ie metal charging handle, upgraded piston and bushings, tightbore 6.04 barrel. This gun is supposed to be amazing. I'll let you know......

I picked up a full length CA G36 back in November and it's a pretty good rifle. I found the body a bit more fragile (cracked the pistol grip and chipped part of the body already ) than on my TM G36C however it doesn't get all shiny after a little bit of use. Probably the thing I appreciate the most though is how light the gun is compared to other rifles of similar size. Even with the drum mag fully loaded the thing is only like half the weight of my M14!

In terms of internals, I would have liked to see CA use a metal ball bearing spring guide, I broke the stock one just opening the mechbox. Everything else seemed ok although like most other CA owners the first two teeth on the piston stripped after only a couple hundred rounds.

Added a G&P Bipod, STAR C mag and a CA G36C low profile top rail. May add a red dot but then again I find the G36C style iron sights are pretty easy to use.

Went to ASCA and came home $680 lighter and a G36 heavier. I love long rifles, but I actually went looking for a bullpup (ironically, my buddy I went with was looking for a G36 and ended up with an AUG). I held the FA-MAS and liked it, but the butstock was a bit too short to be comfortable and the thing was WAAAY to plasticy for my liking, it felt like it would break if it was dropped. I tried the AUG but like the G3 it was a little too heavy (I'm not a buff guy lol). Then I held the G36. Holy shit that thing is so much lighter than I thought it would be, feels so amazing to hold. My only complaint is the optics kindof suck but that can be taken care of, I'm already making a list of mods I want to do to it. I can't wait to get the thing out to a game. Question though, what type of bipod can be fitted to it?

the integrated bipod foregrip is actually able to screw into the first nut. If not, you will need to pick up a rail, and a bipod and attach it via 20mm. The optics arent to bad, just bad eye relief. If you can pick up a TM G36C rail for about 50 bucks, it makes all the difference. Welcome to circle brother.

Thanks! Actually, after doing a bit of looking around, I might instead just put a Star long rail on the G36 (like the one on the SL8) and mount a scope on that if all fits properly. That won't be for a while though :P

Indeed it does. I still like the Sl8-style rail though. Probably would like something like this (the scale is slightly off, but it gives an idea):

I think mounting a scope on that would look awsome. Don't know if it would fit though.

im trying swat but there like 400 dollars! right now im trying to find a carrying handle. if anybody has been looking at g36s lately you will notice that they have this new carrying handle. heres a comparison.

older style, note flares underneath the handle and integrated iron sights.

newer style, no flares and MP7 sights.

does anyone know if the MP7 sights are removable on the TM MP7? I plan to buy a Star flattop rail, shave the underneath and slap some of those on.
