it's built into the ARL... there's an extra thing on it that when you turn the selector farther past where it clicks, it will release the ARL... at least that's how it looked when I had it apart. they may have disconnected the functionality because the only way I ever had it release was nudging the thing before I split the gearbox open.

Getting back to the Garand, the one I have on the bench is proving quite problematic. Two issues I see. 1) Trigger shuttle return spring is too long. There's hardly any spring in it when the shuttle is at full extension. Easy fix as a regular return spring is a few coils shorter. Gun will shoot semi auto but only if the the trigger is pulled ALL the way back. If you try to "feather" the trigger it shoots full auto. That's problem #2. There's an appreciable gap between the trigger shuttle and the cutoff lever. the shuttle hits the trigger contacts before it's over the cutoff lever, causing the full auto issue. While the cut off lever is a V2, the trigger switch is proprietary.

Pry the contacts apart and reshape them a bit so the circuit closes farther back in the trigger pull?
I've had to do it on several v2s before. It'll burst or full auto.

Wouldn't solve the horrifically long trigger pull though. It's worse that a V3.
