ASC's navel of the year!
|
Always go for something with dual pane thermal lens, from my riding experience I've found dual pane pinlock lens on motorcycle visors never fog vs pretty much every other commercially available anti-fog solution out there.
If you don't want to spend that much on goggles, I can recommend the Bolle X1000's w/ dual pane lens if you can find them. Picked up a pair and I haven't got them to fog yet even over a steaming pot of water. Though the Revision fan & dual pane combo would seriously kick ass as well, adding that to my long list of gear to get lol. A little off topic, but I'm curious if anyone knows what the actual difference between the normal desert locust and asian desert locust is? I know the Asian fit is meant for our flatter nose bridges but from the pictures on revision's site the frames look the same around the nose area and they don't seem to be lens specific either like some other goggles. Does the Asian fit just have additional foam around the nose area or something?

The Asian fit googles are actually "flatter" across the entire length of the google to accommodate the flatter Asian faces.

So would you guys suggest getting the fan version and then adding the thermal lens? Or just get the the version with the thermal lens pre-installed?

You should still be able to get lenses for those. I have two sets of those masks from my paintball days with 4 lenses. Ebay has them and most stores still carry them and/or can order them. Never hurts to have a back up lense.

I use the Asian fit one, and they are so comfortable.
Don't know the differences with the others, but I don't care. Fits 100% perfect and is very comfortable, unlike my old crappy TMC one from TA, which costed me like $50. Say no to gaps! I also recall getting a bb stuck in my old TMC goggles, because it bounced off of my mesh and went straight up into the goggles, lol, what are the chances of that :|. |

You really have to try them on. As much as people rave about the DYE goggles, it does not fit well on everyone. If you have a large head, your chin will be exposed.
I have four different brands (DYE, JT, Proto, VForce), and they all fit different. The best one I like is also the cheapest. It was a Proto surprisingly. |

That was fast O_O
Installed with original tint + clear beside it. Now to find some time to test it out with the fan on highest setting. |

Thanks for all your opinions folks! It's been quite helpful. I'm thinking I'll just go with the fan-less Locust... cause the Revision website is outta stock and I haven't really ever experienced fogging when playing paintball except for when it's rather cold out and the mask are those stupid rental ones. (Great reason, I know)
Also looking at the Revision Exoshield. Looks good for use when not running a helmet, though the Bullet Ant would probably do the trick as well. Thoughts? |

I just got my thermal lens from Amazon.ca - most of their stuff is free shipping, like mine.
Even with the discount and shipping from Revision USA it would of costed like $50 USD shipped, I got the lens for $32 shipped, tax in. Might want to check it out first, www.amazon.ca and look up Revision, won't have fans, but might have other ones. |

if ordering revision you can order direct from their website... the coupon code ar15news works for massive discount.
The only thing I don't like about revision goggles is that the goggle frame rests on your face... there's no foam like the ESS goggles. I find when you get sweaty the revisions move all over your face, whereas the ESS goggles will wick the sweat and stay in place. With the foam the ESS asian fit goggles actually fit my really flat giant asian dome a lot better.

I think one of the reasons why ESS made their ESS Asian Fit Turbofans is that I sent them an email once a week for a few months asking if they could develop one.... |

Is Amazon a reliable place to get Revision googles? I really don't want to end up with fakes and risk losing my vision.
