Ill second the torus. Its the base box for my dsg (55rps at 350fps) more rounds through it than i can remember, sorbo too.

Combat Squad is a new Hong Kong based manufacturer that's been putting out some really solid premium products lately. Included in their line up is a CNC machined 8mm receiver. Online retail price for it is listed at $133USD.


For the amount of money you're looking to drop in to this gearbox, it may be cheaper to just get a complete built Systema gearbox already built to handle that much power.

Otherwise, if all you want to do is to keep your current setup operating well with durability and that 430fps spring, you'd just need a set of torque up gears and metal bushings.

I thought Dboys use metal bushings? I know stock JG guns use 6mm plastic bushings, but I've seen the newer ones use brass bushings now.

Besides, the DBoys that the OP was referring to had plastic bushings. Well... I believe they were plastic. They were opaque black coloured (I was the one who assembled this gearbox for Logoris.)

If you don't plan on upgrading the motor, then the higher the torque increase at the gears, the better. I don't think a new motor is necessary, as long as you torque the gears appropriately, since the main power transfer of the drivetrain is at the gears.

You dont need a CNC gearbox. A TM gearbox shell will get the job done if you have a STS installed. If it's CRACKED and a STS is in pace you can still get a fairly consistent 500 from the gearbox.

If you want >500 and reliable shell STS plus any major brand of shell Systema, G&P etc.

Gear's you should run siegetek max torque which are able to handle springs in the >4joule range. My sets of siegeteks are basically brand new after very heavy use that in my opinion would have destroyed several sets of inferior gears.

If you buy Quality bearings you can run your gun at high velocities without problems. You will be spending some ~30 dollars per bearing from a reliable RC supplier or a place like Mcmaster Carr or Boca Bearings. If you don't know what you are doing Bushings.

Spring. Find discontinued Airsoft surgeon stage 5 or 6. or you will have to order custom springs from the small one off shops.

Motor is going to cost you a small fortune for a 600fps gun. as is the trigger control system.


For standard 430. Standard ratio gears will do the job if you have a decent motor and power supply. Dboy and JG make gearboxes straight from the factory that in my opinion are good enough for a couple seasons of solid play without having to do any major upgrade or replacement. Generally speaking Shimming is the the worst aspect of these gearboxes.
