Even if you start out with a cheap clone you still need all the parts to go in it. Same price. Your better off to pay more when you can then ever cheap out on a bolt action.
You will regret it and it does ruin the sport for people. Dont bother.

There is BrokenBird who sells that WELL L96 for 300$... comes with the scope and bipod, 4 mags, and it has a PDI hopup, a tighbore barrel and a custom paint job... if the body is fine... theoritically, the only things that would need to be upgraded is the piston/spring and maybe the bolt itself... would that be a good deal? I mean a stock well is 300... so for the same price I get the barrel, hop up and paintjob, plus 2-3 mags, as they probably don't come with 4... So how is this deal? at this point, it looks like the best deal I seen... Last edited by mas_oyama; August 22nd, 2011 at 15:10.. |

Problem is the outer parts of the gun are out of spec with aftermarket parts.
For a bolt action, you need things to be precise and crisp. You wont get that with a clone bolt action. |

So then what should i do? Wait and get a new Maruzen later when i have more budget? Would that be the best one for L96?
How presice is a stock Maruzen? What are the mods I should consider for it?

I've gamed with a Mauser a few months back at a game in Sherbrooke.
The gun is pretty good, in my opinion. It's accurate if you adjust your scope and hopup and I'd give it a 7/10 for the price. I've seen some A&K SVD's out there for 250$ though. Don't know much about them, but I've heard they're alright since you said you're on a budget(as am I, I plan on getting myself a new AEG soon enough). A few weeks ago - the good friend of mine who owns the sniper took out three guys with it in less than 15 seconds with ease, but I would suggest an AEG DMR. Auto > Semi in some situations, and the good thing about an AEG is you can switch between both settings. So it's a win-win situation. Last edited by Caspian; August 22nd, 2011 at 16:31.. |

Trust this man, the rifle that you tested fire at Tracy field is previosely was own by him and all work were done by him even paint job. I got 4 confirm kill within distance where normal AEG can't reach.

If you're going L96, you should get a TM, once upgraded with PDI parts, they're far superior to the Maruzen ones.

@Caspian: yeah semi + Auto is WAAAAY better, in a sense, than bolt action. HOWEVER. We play airsoft for the fun of it. And for me, a bolt action is so much fun! A DMR is the ultimate shit in real life, but for me, I just love the feel of a good bolt action! hehe. @Amos: If you are the one who built MASAKO's sniper rifle... I'd like you to make me one too. lol. Now your profile says you are in manitoba... I don't know how you usually proceed for that kind of stuff, its not like I'll drive all the way from Montreal to winnipeg... lol. if you are interested into getting that little contract, contact me in PM so we can talk about what kind of upgrade you can do and what would be the cost... so please just contact me in PM if you're interested! I could save money for 2-3 months if needed... Cause I just LOVED MASAKO's gun... |

I had a Mauser. I also had a few clones and I had a Maruzen. I miss the Maruzen. I tried to upgrade the Mauser with all PDI parts (LV3 bolt, tightbore, hop-up and trigger). Every part had to be modified to fit and even then it was not perfect. Keep in mind that I had been working as gundoc for over 5 years already... if you are not doing all your maintenance and upgrades on you AEG, don't even try to upgrade a bolt action. The Mauzer is made by Well, so both are equally piss-poor. If you like the look of the stock, try it first. The grip is extremely wide and not ergonomic at all (the palm rest is too square and you get blisters on the side of the wrist) and since it's two parts, it is flexing and creaking a lot. I changed all the cross-screws with steel ones and nuts because the stock screws where stripped. I also had to add some screws at the rear, just front and back of the adjustment for the cheek rest because the pressure from the locking screw was splitting the stock in two. Only reason to buy this gun is to reinforce the stock and use it on a Maruzen if you like the look and feel. |
