I went to put an order through for that and some other things, total came to 170. My shipping then came to $230?!?! WTF?

Canceled.

Trademark ones are probably going to be small importer only. VA and Garrison dont want to deal with them.

VA and Garrison can't legally import products with trademark infringment. Trust me, if I could legally import them I would.

Check this out guys.. Airsoft Buddy originally had a promotion for their open bolt kits for $65 with a shipping cost of $48.. The price for the open bolt kit has increased to $75, but shipping is NOT $48.. its $36...

Interesting eh? Makes you wonder how much shipping actually costs for them..

Can those things even be compared?

Doubtful, VA buys from WE, WE NEVER put any trades beside SAGE EBR stock (licensed) or G39 (WE trade)

I would believe they can be since they both claim to fix inherent problems with the M4 along with the biggest being accuracy

That is incorrect. VA has M4/M16 with trades, I have seen it and purchased one myself.

They are 2 different systems with different drawbacks. The open bolt seems to solve the accuracy issue, but lack in the quality of material selection is a drawback.

The closed-bolt, bolt carrier is machined from steel ,extremely robust and well made, whereas the open bolt bolt carrier is cast from a zinc-aluminum alloy, soft, lighter, basically cheaper to produce.

The drawback of having a soft metal is that after a few thousand cycles, the hammer will slowly erode the material until you are left with a crater in the back of your BC, with unreliable automatic firing.

And yeeeeeeeeeey ... not even a thousand rounds and the damn thing is already borked <_<
As of now i have no auto on my M16, i mean ... i do have auto but it's completely useless. After checking and rebuilding the damn rifle trying to fix the issue to no avail, i noticed something strange on the carrier and voilá ! The spot where the carrier first meets with the hammer not only is it dinged, it's completely obliterated! It's like a freakin crater.

So now i'm stuck with semi because the hammer just gets stuck in there and makes full auto completely unreliable. POS ... <_<
Closed bolt is nice with the VSZ hop-up, it shoots consistent, I still have to play around with it. The stock steel bolt carrier virtually indestructible, which is the main reason why I am still running a closed bolt system. Drawback is that it requires such an upgrade.

hey thanks for the info, im currently trying to decide to go with the open bolt or the VSZ which I think you have helped me come to a decision.

Ive always liked the closed bolt system but was considering the open bolt and recently tried a WA m4 and noticed that they use an open bolt system as well which was amazing, so ive been very interested in comparing the 2.

more than likely im going VSZ but im hoping for more feedback first.

With the VSZ, you would get the best of both worlds wouldn't you? You get the reliable and durable brass tube & BCG and you also get a TM-style hop up for good accuracy. I'm still deciding between the two really.

If that's the case why are most Taiwan players so eager to switch to Open-Chamber? VSZ is made by Falcon a Taiwanese company.
