As for becoming an AVer yourself, well I think you need to be an established member of the community and well known on the site. A staff member would be able to answer that better though.

Nelson, BC ? If you go to Forum Leaders which can be selected at the bottom of the main forum page, you will find a list of all the verifiers along with mods, retailers, etc. Last edited by Short Round; November 7th, 2010 at 10:49.. |

Click the Forums link in the main black option bars (Beside home and classifieds) Now scroll down to the bottom of the page till you see View all as Read or something like that, and beside it should be View Forum Leaders. Click that and scroll down the page till you see Verifiers. They are all categorized alphabetically now, so just run through all them till you can find one close to you. I found Uzigon in Nelson. Thats the best I could find for you |

I'd say find a few of the verifiers, chat with them here then plan a trip to either Kelowna or Calgary to meet up. Kelowna is closer but there aren't that many games going on right now. Calgary you should be able to find something going on over the winter and see the gear first hand. Other potential spots could be Kamloops or Penticton.
Other random thoughts, best mask now seems to the be Russian mesh ones, there's a spot in Calgary that sells those too but I don't know if he has a storefront or if it's all online. BBs get their range/lift from Bernoulli's Principle.

Electric Gun,Gas Gun,spring gun
i know some thoughts on spring gun
but what about electric gun vs gas guns iam just making sure i have a good idea witch type of gun to go for when i go for my airsoft gun ive started to sell all my paintball gear as of yesterday and what the deal with the size of airsoft round you use there is a couple of different sizes 0.20g 0.25g 0.28g 0.30g what kind is better and do you have to change your barrel to use different sizes of BBs |

Those are weights, not sizes. They are all 6mm. Except for a few rarer guns which shoot 8mm.

Keep in mind that in airsoft we have power limits as opposed speed to limits.
Therefore when you see posted speed limits they're measured using .20 gram as the standard. I suggest at minimum .25 gram for outdoor play if not .28. As for indoor play .20 is fine and in fact probably safer since engagement distances are so short anyways. Heavier BB's will slow down the speed of the projectile but will still carry the same muzzle energy. Also no.... there aren't "barrel inserts" to make the bore of the barrel smaller rather the barrel is manufactured to a standard (ie. 6.08 mm, 6.04mm, 6.03mm, 6.01mm). For that you're looking for consistency of the "straightness" of the barrel rather than getting the tightest bore you can. Don't buy a POS 6.01 barrel if it's kinked to hell since it won't be an upgrade, and will impart weird flight paths to the BB anyways. As for electric vs gas. If you're talking about GBBR's (Gas Blow Back Rifles) it's best to avoid them and get an AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) due to much needed upgrades (we're talking like "$$$$" worth of upgrades) and tuning except for the KJW one which is gamable out of the box and very agreeable for the wallet pricewise. I'd still say to, start with a mid-quiality AEG then when you want to have some fun and don't care about costs then migrate to a GBBR since at least if it breaks down midway through the day you have a backup. Note that AEG's aren't problem free either but they're a "proven technology" and I have the belief that they're less prone to breaking down (if you get a mid-quality gun, low quality ones might last 50 rounds or 500,000+ rounds it's really a gamble so try and aim for something mid quality and in the 400-450+ range at minimum). EDIT: Also sorry about not being able to point you as to where to get guns but I don't want to get infracted as it's against community rules to tell unverified members where to get guns. We can only answer any other questions you have, but it's not like it's hard to find them yourself it's just a bit more work, research, and lurking that you have to do.

But some may let you get away with ballistic glasses. Others may require full masks. My rule of thumb is sealing goggles for open areas and if it is CQB madness, go with the full mask. (as you may experience sudden short range combat)

OK.....
You know how in paintball limits are usually like 250-300 FPS.... Well it's mainly because of the energy that the paintball has. That is why we can play with 400 FPS outdoors (using .20 gram BB's) because it's a lighter projectile being shot and to achieve the same energy it needs more speed. Now that's out of the way, if you do the math and note that a paintball has significantly more energy then you're right. BUT there is the point of the paintball actually breaking and losing a lot of the energy on impact (momentum loss through destruction), whereas an airsoft BB is a rigid object. SO what does a heavier projectile do for you if all it does is slow down the speed? Well.... It will do 3 things. First increase your EFFECTIVE RANGE, second decrease your TOTAL/OVERALL range, and third make the BB more "accurate/precise" due to a heavier object needing more force acting on it in order to deflect it to a different flight vector. Now why does it increase effective range but decrease overall range? Think about it this way. If you had 3 baseballs of different weights, lets say 3 oz., 5 oz., and 7 oz. You throw each of them in succession with the same energy/effort at a plywood target on the other end of the field or something. You're aiming true and not correcting for anything and there's a light squall/gust crosswind. You'll find the 3 oz one although you can throw it faster is more affected by the crosswind than the others. The 5 oz one is slower but because it has more mass is less affected by the crosswind and 7 oz least affected. Now about ranges.... You agree that the lighter an object is the more velocity it has and therefore can travel further before gravity (a "9.81 m/s" pull downwards to the ground) will bring it down to the ground. So ignoring accuracy/precision you try to throw the objects as far as you possibly can, you'll find that the lighter one will go furthest but also by the end of the flightpath go in crazy directions because of the crosswind, same with the heavier ones the 5 oz one will go further than the 7 oz totally but then it will go in a crazy direction. I know it's a big wall of text but I hope this analogy helps.
