Hi,

I'm looking at buying an airsoft gun off kijiji, but the gun is used. How many BBs/how long are most airsoft guns rated for? The gun is a full metal SRC M4. The seller says he's used it for about 10 full day events. To put this in car terms, I don't want to buy a 1988 rust bucket thinking I'm getting a 2005.

SRC is the automotive equivalent of Lada. Designed to work just long enough for you to get it off the lot.

Like anything else in life, buy quality or you don't end up with quality. Brand new G&G guns come in at around $200 plus brand new from retailer, which is dirt cheap for an airsoft gun. Guns need good BB's, BB's need mags, guns need batteries, batteries need chargers, guns need upgrades, upgrades need maintenance, etc, so make sure you budget out. All that being said; there's no certainty with any airsoft guns, they can run for years through a million rounds, or break down every other day. It takes maintenance, time and money.

Great post! Should be read by all beginners. I'd like to add 2 things: Being Responsible & Honor. OP mentioned the airsoft community wants to keep a low profile. This is very true, and important. 2 years ago in Quebec City teenagers used an airsoft gun and ruined their neighbors car. Bottom line, use your airsofts responsibly, airsofts got a negative image for a few weeks here after that incident. Second, airsoft is an honor sport. Play fair, call your hits and follow the rules. This game relies heavily on these 2 principles. Apply this and your experience will be of much better quality.

To answer OP's question, my greatest concern when i started airsoft back in 2013 was: Where can I play? the answer to that has already been answered on the first post.

Thanks for the tips. Gas guns are listed as not a good first gun. Of course that's what I want LOL. I want to have something similar to my AR15 I use for 3gun, but I take the advise of experience people seriously. I shall ponder and look for a good buyers guide.
