Exclamation Many Questions Regarding the MAGPUL MASADA PTS

Hello everyone!

As the title say, a have alot of questions regarding this (In my point of view) incredible gun.

First, i must tell that is gonna be my first AEG. Yeah, im a noob to all this but i made my homeworks

Why did i choose this one? Let my explain my choice before i go further: As an ex CF members, i got kind of ''fed up'' with the M16/M4 model... So when i came to my ears that Magpul was develloping an evolution base on this, i got a little curious... (Fond this on Future Weapons) What a susprise! I fell in live litterally with it!

As my first AEG, i wanted somthing user friendly, upgradable, modular and versatile made with good quality material/Assembly. Thats why i choose the MASADA PTS AKM (11.5in Barrel). A good base to start with in my point of view.

Its currently on shipping, but i wanted to have some feedback while waiting from people here on ASC about its realibility, fleild use and your general toughts about it.
That was my first question.

Second, Im planning to do some CQB/Mid range engagement mainly on outdoors. My initial concept was to install an hybrid sight on it (Like the Eotech HSS 2) but when i saw the price.... Im still not able to find a decent priced replica of it. If you know a brand or something less costly? please let me know.

My second choice was (witch i will probably go with) is the NC STAR Combo ( http://www.ncstar.com/scripts/prodVi...?idproduct=443 ) like this. It thinks its not a bad choice and its a good bang for the buck for its possibility.
I would like to a have your cue on this and/or suggestion regarding a decent scope/holo system.

Third: Do you know the thread of the muzzle? Im planning to add a Silencer/ingniter on it. I really dont know if its the standard 14mm thread. I didnt find anything on this yet. T&M seem to be good so this is certainly gonna be this brand. Still, im not sure if i should go on a silencer or a flash. Honnestly, its more for look than and to be able to use gloing BB than muffling sound lol!

By adding this, can you tell me if this gonna affect the overall range of the gun? I have read that a longer barrel slighly increase the range, but i silencer doesn't. In fact, a silencer is suppose to suppress sound and range. Im i right?

Fourth: I heard some horror stories about the gearbox (supposely made by ARES) As far as i am concerned, and by some research i made, problems occured after some players upgraded the motor with a more powerful one wich litteraly blew the pistons theeth. Im i wrong?

Fifth: Looks like Magpul is or is going to be on propriatary system for its internals... Its it possible to change the gearbox anyway?

Im completly sold with Magpul concept. So sold in fact that as my backup weapon i plan to have a PDR-C.

Please share your point of view on this and thanks in advance for the help

Looking forward to finnaly use in on the feild with you guys this summer! Im From Quebec City BTW

The threads on the stock 11.5" barrel is CW (14+mm). The 18" barrel is CCW (14-mm).
You aren't wrong. Upgrading the motor increases the wear on the piston, since the gears would cycle faster. A good fix to this is shimming the gears properly, and setting the angle of engagement. I would also radius the gearbox shell as it is VERY fragile, and also installing sorbo pad.

The things that aren't properitary: cylinder, cylinder head, piston, piston head, gears, and motor. Might be some other things but I forget.

There is a kit from Modify that is usable for the Masada. Its the Modify AUG cylinder kit, it includes nozzle (which you can't use), Modify POM piston head, Modify Piston, Modify Cylinder, and Modify Cylinder head.

I have one and I love it . Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

All of Magpul PTS AEGs are proprietary internals in some way or another. the PDR-C as cool as it is is extremely proprietary. I posted a review up here go check it out

keep it stock until it breaks, but if you find you need more range and accuracy, the first thing to upgrade is your hopup rubber. Then fix any compression leaks you might have.

Thanks for the advices guys.

An 9.6 2000 batt is what im plannig to equip my masada. Good choice i think unless you tell me otherwise.

I dont plan to do extensive mod on it so.... like you said if is break down (like any type of AEG) im gonna upgrade internal parts.
