M4A1 Gun Decision Question
I am looking to purchase an M4A1 airsoft gun from Velocity Arms. Which gun is better: the DPMS Panther Arms M4A1 (Jing Gong Rebrand) or the G&G GR16 V4 CQB? It says that the fps of the G&G is only 300fps but I have heard on forums up to 360fps. What is the real fps of this gun? Has anyone chronoed it stock?

I am no expert on these but I believe both are chinese clones of TM guns. Being age verified and getting a real TM will cost more but save many headaches.

DPMS is an American rebrand of JG, and G&G is Taiwanese like ICS and LCT. You're most likely better off with the G&G, as their average quality and quality control is better than DPMS. Like venture said, best thing to do is get age verified. If you're not old enough to come to proper games then having a gun will be a bit useless, even for 'backyard battles'. It gets boring fast.
To answer your question, the smoked receiver G&G's shoot between 300 and 330FPS, from my estimation (which is hardly reliable), but perhaps a member who actually owns a chronograph can help out here.

Higher FPS means nothing about the quality of the gun.

I got a G&G CQB-R recently and it chronoed at 340 FPS with 0.25 BBs. This is the metal top reciever version with a clear lower.

Out of those two, the G&G is definetly the better quality.
And like Styrak said, FPS means jack shit. It can be changed with a simple spring swap. Barrel quality, hop-up quality, and BB quality have far, far more to do with how a gun performs than FPS.

So how does G&G compare to the other brands for those parts? Ive heard they have awesome internals but thats about it ... nothing specific...

G&G doesn't have awesome internals. G&G is actually the bottom teir of the non-china-clone guns. Classic Army, Tokyo Marui, ICS (non-clear ones), VFC, ARES.. all have better internals than G&G.
Basically, if you don't mind spending ~$500 on an airsoft gun, and don't have an immediate pressing urge for one, you'd be better off metting up with an Age Verifacation rep, showing them ID to prove you are 18+, and get access to the classifieds here on the forum. You will then have access to far more brands of guns, and full black, full metal ones at that. Now, if you ABSOLUTLY must have an AEG now, then the G&G ones are decent enough. I happen to think the halfbreeds are overpriced since for another $150 you can get a full black gun of superior quality, but that's just my opinion.

Can't fix my own guns. Willing to fix yours.

And not to mention, every once in a while you find some insane deal on the classifieds, like a while back there was an upgraded TM M16 for 300, thats less than ANY halfbreed and its a TM

I understand that fps isnt everything but is the range of the G&G noticeably less than the Jing Gong or is it the same because of its tightbore barrel?

What makes a difference in range is BB weight, BB quality, and quality of the hop-up. Most stock airsoft guns are very, very similar in performance. There's a few outstanding ones, like Real Sword guns etc. that are above the pack, but for the most part they'll be equal. The JG might have more range simply because it shoots harder, allowing you to use a heavier BB. Having said that, I'd be willing to bet the G&G hop-up, and the overall build quality of the G&G, is better than the JG. Overall build quality also has to do with how well the gun performs.

so do u think that the jg is still a decent buy? do u know how the rof compares?

Just buy the G&G, Its a much better gun. It will outperform the JG in every aspect but FPS, but FPS isn't that important and is very cheap and easy to change

JG is ok to have for the price but just dont expect too much from it without upgrades.

sorry guys but one more question. Do you think that the JG would be able to handle a 9.6v battery without having to upgrade the internals? what about the G&G?
