Are there any things i should do a to a new gun before using it?
Is there anything i should do to a brand new gun before shooting it to prevent it from breaking? For example, should i add lubricants on the gears? Oil the gun?

Depends on the brand. Some brands add ton of crap lube which where you would have to clean up and re-lube with quality lube.
