Are all silencers metal?
I know that is probably not true.
I am looking at the silencers on airsoftparts.ca. I would like to know if all of them are metal or plastic. I am looking into buying this one for my M4 CQB R. http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1133 |

some are metal, some are plastic.
but for the most part, most aftermarket suppressors are aluminum. i believe ive seen a carbon fiber suppressor. Last edited by ginnz; July 29th, 2009 at 17:06.. |

just by looking at the silencer, does this one screw on? or clip on over the flash hider? If i do get a clip on silencer, will it fit on the "assault type flash suppressor"?
http://b2b.guay2.com/eng_our_product/g4cqb_r.htm <- my gun At the moment, i am looking for a silencer which make my gun slightly longer and increase my range. Any recommendations? |

a silencer (more correctly a suppressor) will not increase your range unless it is used to hide a longer inner barrel

What is the use of a supressor on an airsoft rifle? Is it only for look?

EDIT: From now one, in airsoft, suppressors are called fluffers. |

it does change the sound a little bit, we have a p90 with one because it has a m4 barrel. It changes it from the normal sound to a low thump, a little harder to tell where its coming from.
The sound that james bonds gun makes is not real, you will never get that... not even in a real fire arm. |

Ive heard them suppress the sound of an airsoft rifle quite a bit, actually. To answer the initial question: No, not all suppressors are metal. Some are plastic. Heck, you can even make one out of a pop bottle for real steel (fun!).

If you want a real good suppressor for any airsoft gun, check Redwolf for their poor mans suppressor, it works the best.

would i recommend screw on suppressors? or QD?
Someone in a previous thread said it would increase the my range... i guess not... i just want to increase the length of my gun a bit. That short barrel bugs me lol |

QD or screw on is completely up to you. If you're hiding an inner barrel, it would be silly to have QD unless you want it for looks.

Yea, if you put a longer inner barrel in the gun (like an M4 barrel in a P90), you'd hide the extended part with the suppressor.
