Making an AK47 unique.

Well, I just baught myself a G&G AK47 the other day, and I had plans on making it into an AKM or an AK74. I've been having a bit too much trouble finding all the parts I need so i'm giving up. I'm just gonna work with what i have and grab a metal body and wood kit. But, I really, really don't want to leave it at that.

I wanna make my gun stand out from other vanilla AK47's.

Any ideas? I'm thinking of slapping a Kobra / PSOP optic on it along with a PBS-1 silencer or something...

scratch the receiver and dunk it into salt water, then burn the upper handguard ( ask amos about that lol) also put some red electrical tape on the hanguard ... bref do a " beaten" look to it...

Build it to maximize your shooting comfort; If you're getting the muzzle up too slow, add a vert grip (either rail+grip, or an AIMS set-up). If you're a little too slow on the trigger, add some optics (forward mounted RDS/Holo, or a Kobra). List goes on.

Personally, I'd go for a lightweight, FAST (quick to sight) little carbine. Something maybe with a folding stock.

Your call. Ancorp does fantastic work with all things AK... maybe consult with him?

Yeah, He was the one I originally came to when I first had the AKM idea. But building it is just unrealistic for me at the moment. I'm mainly gathering ideas through this thread. I'll defenately be knocking at his door once my mind has been made.

As for setup, though? It doesnt really matter, i'm a fast shot with or without the fancy grips and such. Just for now, its merely for looks.

You're cocky.

Well, whatever floats yer boat. AS upgrades are pretty arbitrary.

This is a little something I was planning on doing if I bought a Real Sword 56-1.

Practical for airsoft as the AK launchers are a bit rare to come by.

Yeah, I guess that did come off as cocky. Haha. Upgrades are fine right now. Its shooting atleast 350 and firing nice and fast on a 9.6v, If anything, I plan on stickin' a TB barrel into it just to keep it shooting straight.

that must be really uncomfortable to fire with the stock obstructing the trigger guard lol

I'm sure that when he's not posing for pictures, or shooting from the hip at the sky, he would extend the stock.

My worry would actually be the clearance between the mag and the m203 when inserting the mag to the magwell. The angle is likely very tight.

If you want to really make your AK stand out, consider perhaps stripping your woodkit of any finish/varnish, right down to the bare wood and refinishing it to "soviet production standards".

AK's have traditionally been finished w/ shellac, not varnish like airsoft wood kits are done in. You'd be amazed the difference a good shellac job will do on a wood kit.

You want to go to CT and in the paint section look for a small can of "amber shellac". Small quantities of wood stain can also be mixed w/ the shellac to add a bit more colour (Minwax #255 works great) to get that red tone to the finish.

I've done this on my CA AK74 and it turned out great and makes it look the part a whole lot more.

Questions feel free to pm me.

Hey guys, I need a bit of verification here on the Wood kits sold by Capitalairsoft.ca and Huang. Anyone have installed them on their AKs? I don't care for the finish, it'll be repainted later on

Modding at most would make it fit hehe.

As for making it a unique AK.

Style the wood different as Kokanee said, paint or chemicle colour the body. Be creative
