Hello world, i have a growing fascination for airsoft weapons, how well they're put together, how they could be tweaked and played with to fit someones needs, well pretty much everything about them fascinates me. I just wanted to know if there was like a club that i could join that would further my knowledge of these machines, teach me battle tactics, and allow have some fun while im at it. I am located in Toronto and i do not have a vehicle so traveling far distances isn't an option. I have never been paint balling so i am not an experienced shooter. I forgot to mention that i love playing games like manhunt, capture the flag and siege. I am looking for a club that is all year-round rather than seasonal, but either will do. Can someone please help me out...

For games check out the Events section for Ontario, for Teams check the Teams section for Ontario. One thing your gonna want to do if you are 18 yrs or older is get Age Verified as we do not allow minors to own, and most times even play on the fields. Make you sure you fully and carefully read through all the FAQ and especially ALL the stickies. You will find alot of the questions you may have already answered, as people asking questions to the point where people have cried every time there after. No word of a lie. Cried. pusangani makes people cry, lol.

Check out TTAC3 (Davenport/Ossignton) and Defcon (VP/Steeles). Not sure if Sgt. Splatters games will startup soon. Defcon has a new field at Downsview park I think.

Can't recommend TTAC3 more highly.

CQB (bloor/landsdown) is a great place. Some guys have come out for their first time there...but they're usually brought along by a guy who's been around a bit. If you're level headed and fight hard...there's no barriers.

Most other outdoor fields are out of the GTA.

Some teams are "clubs" that train/meet together regularly...but others (probably most) are loose collections of guys who just play at games together.

Most of the figuring out of AEGs is done through trial and error (expensive), researching (Google, here, other sites, Mechbox.com), or just chatting with others. Some guys fiddle with them A LOT...other guys just add bbs and batteries and want to play.

I've run AEG workshops in the past...where I run through how they work, how to tune them up, what does what, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm not sure if I'll run another one this fall...it's a horrible amount of work.

You don't need to be an experienced shooter, or even have shot anything at all (even if you've never shot a water gun although if you haven't I feel sorry for you missing out on that childhood experience).

All you need to bring is an attitude of wanting to learn.

You might want to hop over to your local army surplus store and pick up some gear. You don't have to but you'll fit in more even with a minimal amount of gear. Olive Drab combats and some good hiking boots are the bare minimum pretty much anything else you can rent/borrow. You can rent paintball goggles from most fields for like $5 but if you think you'll stick around then go to Canadian Tire and pick up a pair of cheap $35 JT's or something (7 times and it's already paid for itself and you don't need to use rental ones).

You don't need to learn any battle tactics or any leet skeet tacticool rolls or anything. Although, there are different game dynamics from "speedball" games to full out milsim games with radios, objectives, maps and such you can probably start out with regular skirmishes and work your way from there. Just show up and play kind of deal (same as paintball, just show up, pick up a rental, buy some paintballs, play for a day, and go home).

EDIT: As has been said there are clubs, teams, and "societies". Each are different in their own way. Some are groups of guys who want to have fun on a Friday night or are Weekend Warriors, others have membership dues, presidents, secretaries, treasurers, vote on buying "club equipment" (BBQ's, rental guns for new players, group orders etc.) and such.

I'd suggest, getting out to a game first, and then making any purchases afterwards. Alot of people buy tons of gear, guns and never even play and then when they finally get out to a game, the find that the things they bought don't work well for them in the field.

Go to a game, talk to the players, ask nicely to check out their guns, and then make your decisions.
