Promethius spring is too long?

hey, got a quick question. I bought this spring " http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=1683 " and i went to intall it in my gearbox (i have a v2 gearbox in an M4) but it's like 2 and a half inches longer than my stock spring in my KWA.

whats going on here, is this normal for a promethius spring? or is there a specific spring I need to buy? my goal FPS is 340-350. Any light you can shed would be much appreciated.

thanks!

Step 1: Spring compresses
Step 2: Spring expands
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Yes It's normal

Now if it's an inch and a half longer when fully compressed... you may run into problems.

Could it be possible that a stock KWA spring is just shorter? Do you happen to have springs of any other brands to compare?

KWA spring is abnormaly short. Slightly shorter than the gearbox itself. This is how they achieve their insane trigger response =\

Impressive that they manage to get 380-410 FPS stock out of those stock KWA springs in addition to their insane ball bearing bushings.

Get a Modify 90 spring from Jugglez (airsoftparts), it should sit you around your target area if you have a bearing spring guide.

Bearing spring guide and piston head, KWA gearboxes are fully upgraded stock. Not impressed with the polycarb pistons though, mines half stripped and I only used a li-po for one game.

Whats wrong with a promy ms100? I hear good things about them. My goal is to improve my ROF and consitency, wile decreasing my FPS to 340-350. would the longer spring hurt my ROF more than increase it?

A 100 spring should sit at 100m/s, which is around 360fps. But from my experience most m/s rated springs shoot well over what they are quoted as being (upwards of 40-50fps higher) and your V2 mechbox is likely to suffer, as will your ROF. The Modify springs are very nice (price too) and are spongy, so you'll get around the target fps you are looking for, at the same time have a nice ROF because they aren't stiff.

100 meters is equivalent to just under 330 feet. Your conversion is slightly off.

My findings with most M100 rated springs tend to agree with the proper conversion. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/SpringChart.php

(Although, my results are still a bit higher.)

Been a while since I ran that out of my head yo uare correct, I should have thought better. I guess the Modify springs are over rated, I've gotten 330-340fps with the 90 and 360-370fps with the 100, in numerous AEGs. Guess I focus so much on the readings that I lost my basic 1m = ~3.30ft conversion.

ok, so you'd all recommend a modify 90 over a promethius SP100? Even though the modify spring is also a JG/Echo1 Spring?

I still personally recommend Prometheus springs. But that's just my opinion.

I've had both Modify and Prometheus spring before

Prometheus performed more consistant and has irregular pitch in the middle of the spring as well(And another one at the end of the spring). This makes it easier for the motor to pull. You can check your KWA spring, it has a irregular pitch in the middle and the end as well. Modify only has a pitch at the end.
