Reputable online stores

Please move this to the appropriate section, but I was wondering if there was a list of good websites to go to get ideas and knowledge for modifying existing airsoft.

I would think any website that has PayPal would be a good start, but my main concern is ordering from a website that has been inactive for a while, as is often the case when ordering designer clothes or collectible toys from the internet.

Please PM me the links if posting them in a reply is against any rules.

Also, what is the exact law surrounding importing airsoft into both Vancouver, BC, and Canada as a whole. Any links on the issue have been hard to wade through, as a new board member I'm simply trying to get the most information as possible so as not to ask too many unnecessary or otherwise redundant questions.

Thanks kindly.

Hi, and welcome, the answers for most all your questions will be in the FAQ's, it's a lot of reading ,but well worth it. Take your time, and if you have any questions after you have done some reading, feel free to ask questions.
cheers

Here are three links to three respected online Canadian retailers! Buy in country if you can! Support Canadian airsoft retailers!
http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/
http://www.capitalairsoft.ca/
http://www.velocityarms.ca/

As for importing airsoft into Vancouver, its essentially the same as all over Canada, risky business that is an at your own risk thing. The shortest way to explain it is that essentially airsoft kinda falls into the group of "replica" and replicas are prohibited devices in Canada. You are still welcome to try, but it is at your own risk and understanding that other issues may arise if you do attempt to import an airsoft gun. The majority of the time Canadian border services will confiscate and destroy them, and sometimes you are even added to a black list for which every parcel you order is heavily scrutinized, be it airsoft, clothing or whatever.

If you are interested here is the long winded and very detailed and highly recommened that you read version of how airsoft in Canada works.

Aside from the short list of retailers I posted above this website also has a buy and sell section which can only be accessed through age verifacation. What is age verifacation? Age verification, is where if you are 18 or older you can meet with a volunteer representative of this website who will meet with you in person, there is no way around this, no phone, no webcam, in person only, where they will require to see a legitimate piece of photo identification. After the process is completed, it can take sometime as this is all volunteer work, you will be granted access to this websites buy and sell section, where you can find both new and used guns, for fair and competitive prices. Although its not always the case, it is sort of an open market.

Cheers.

Thanks very much for your replies, I will hunt out said FAQs and make sure to update myself fully on all the answers to my many questions.

I believe I sent my local Vancouver verifier Kampfer [sp?] a PM re: age verification, I'm super keen on both joining some outdoor activities such as CQB and other airsoft related adventures to supplement my new found exercise regime, and to start to learn more about gear and mechbox modification, Systema parts and GBBs and the depth of complexity able to established from using actual branded accessories, such as Eotech, Surefire or Knights Armaments Co. to accelerate accuracy and functionality through RAS and front end systems, as well as full-body mods like EBR shorty kits, SL-9 conversions, M4/A1/S makeovers and other neat things. Mostly to learn all I can about modifiying is why I'm here. I'm heading to that forum next!

[Currently have a stock TM G36C but plan to do a lot of mod'ing to it.]

Personally myself I wouldnt bother spending the money on a real deal Eotech, when a medium quality clone by a good named company would do. Exterior add ons really wont help you that much interms of accurcy, atleast in my opinion. However you will get points in the cool factor, but hell if you can afford it why not right? One of the best things you can do for improved accuracy is install a good quality hopup unit with good rubber and a good tightbore barrel, that coupled with a higher wait BB will greatly add to your distance and accuracy. As for internals, thats a whole other mess, the only bit of advice I can offer is try and keep all your internals to one or two brands if possible. Once you begin to mish mash parts from multiple companies is when you may begin to see issues.

Thats what I want to do to it, basically. Thanks for the "keep-it-to-one-brand" tip for internals, completely makes sense.

I'm guessing the factory stock TM hop up unit will need to be replaced, I'm checking out BB bastard's site for heavier .28g BBs, as you mentioned. Madbull make good tightbore barrels from what I've heard, but I don't know what's available for my G36C.

Dont forget to sign up for the websites in your area. Along the top of this webpage will be a tab that says "community' mouse over it and select BC, join any or all that may apply or peak your interest. Make some friends and hopefully get to know some folks in person who can help you in your project!
