Shotgun question
Hey I'm thinking of getting myself a shotgun just for the sake of it but I've got some questions regarding the way it works;
The model I'm interesed in is the TM Benelli M3 Super90 Is it spring activated or gas activated? A&A Description says it shoots 3 bullets at a time, I thought this thing would shoot like 15 - 20? Once I'm out of BBs in one shell, does it ejects itself out and loads another shell? After each shot, do I have to pump the action? Finally, is it easy to lose your shells? Thanks alot for your help.

yes its spring powered
http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filn.../m3_review.htm also u can get a shell catcher so u dont lose ur shells in the field but it defets the purpose |

mmh nice review, thanks alot. The action and cycling questions still remain though. A real steel Benelli is semi-auto capable. Is this one semi auto?

I have a SPAS 12 and it's the same thing in a different coat.
If you pack the shell all the way you get exactly 3BB's x 10 shots. Each time you pump it you have to go all the way back and you need to use considerable force. This loads three and cocks the spring. If you pump it again, the three you had loaded will fall out the barrel and the new three go in but you might get a jam so don't do it. You CANNOT go semi, only pump (which I think is sexier anyway) because the spring has no means of recocking internally. The shell does not eject when you're empty and you don't get any warning that you are except if you listen closely on your last shot there will be much less noise that "rattles" through the "gearbox". You then hit the shell door lever which releases the shell and opens the door. You only use one shell in the gun at a time. Last edited by Rumpel Felt; July 9th, 2007 at 23:40.. |

Ugh, that kinda kills the shotgun feeling for me even though there are less chances of you losing your shells like that.... I must admit I'm kind of deceived and was hoping for something a bit more realistic in some way.
Are there any airsoft shotguns that are closer to their real steel counter part??

Yes, TM has a way of ruining realism. But these are more functional on the field. You don't want to be ejecting expensive shells. 3 shots is also practical easy on the wallet. It's also a plus not to have to worry about an energy source.
If you want realism, go to the top international retailers and look at some of the Maruzen, Tanaka and Marushin ones. |

Yeah thanks alot. I know they are very practical on the field but I wanted to acquire one more as a collector's item. I guess I'll check out the M870 or something..

Shotguns vs Granade launchers
Haha, I feel the same way about airsoft shotguns, But wait the most amazing thing about airsoft shotguns is.... they can be used a a sniper rifle!
As for the effect of a shotgun, I now use a CAW revovler, with 18 round shells, they make a real mess. I love it, if you want the effects of a shotgun get a granade launcher and use low count shells. Just my two cents.

Actually I want a shotgun for the sake of collecting it. I don't really intend on using it on the field, hence why I was hoping for a realistic action.

A long time ago I think I saw a break barrel action, sawed off gas shell operated airsoft shotgun. Unfortunetly I think the shell only fired one BB, so if you pulled both triggers it would only fire 2, before you would have to reload.
A grenade launcher maybe the best bet.

Yeah well it was spending my money either on a realistic shotgun or an M203 so if I can't find an M870 anywhere, guess I'll go for an M203.

I would like to someday see an airsoft shotgun that fired maybe a dozen or so BBs in a single blast, but to have a cost effective disposable shell eject...oy...I dont know how that would go.

BBS, seen his videos already and it sure is an amazing shotgun. It's actually because of that video that I was hoping the TM Benelli M2 Super90 would be similar. It's sad that kick ass shotgun is quite impossible to get here in Canada
