Product Alert: PDI oilite bushing flanges too large
I noticed something while Manchovie was upgrading an AEG with PDI bushings.
The large diameter flanges prevent the bushing from seating in TM mechbox shells properly. Closer measurement revealed that the bushing flanges on PDI bushings are larger than the seat provided in TM mechboxes. Because of this, the bushings do not push fully into the bore in the mechbox so they fit loosely. Luckily, the issue can be easily fixed. With care and a single cut file, you can hold the bushings by their sides and lightly file down the bushing flanges so they fully seat in your mechbox. I've machined a resizing tool so I can resize PDI bushings quickly. They use sintered bronze so I really like the PDI bushing. Very good material selection and they're porus so they hold lubricants well. They're also soft so they're easy to resize. Once resized, your bushings should fully press.

I can only guess that sometimes the pockets for the bushing flanges are a bit larger so they set properly. I note that the TM bushings have bevelled flanges which might help. They're also 7.85mm

I have to admit. Making these product alert posts is a lot easier when I have a light tent photo setup and someone to help out with PhotoChop.
A good 8+MPix DSLR is a bit like a microscope. Nice rendering of surface qualities and sub 100k images to boot.
