i have find one green dominant RDF jaket...... i never see this before and i think is one of first stock uniform

I know this thread is an old thread but I figured I could help you guys out with your USMC camo things.

The Marines are kind of noted for a "mix n' match" of gear and combat uniforms.

At Parris Island we were issued the rip stop cotton camos in a variety of patterns and configurations. Some of us had brown dominant slant pockets, green dominant slant pockets, brown or green straight pockets or what is known as the RDF. After recruit training one usually purchased used fatigues at Cash Sales so in those days - late 70's to mid 80's you would see a variety of patterns in every platoon. It was not uncommon to see people in brown dominant trousers with green dominant shirts or vice versa.

The same goes for the helmet covers, we had the mitchell patterns as well as the ERDL patterns, alot depended on your deployment and what they had to give out.

The "web gear" or what we called 782 gear was also a variety of issues with some dating back to late 60's vietnam all the way to brand new issue.

The Flak Jackets were also a mix and match of ones with and without pockets, we all had the plates tho, none of the "softies". I didn't see the camo ones until the Beirut deployment in '83.

So if you are going to do a USMC reenactment don't worry so much about what matches, we never did.

I have see more photo of US soldiers in Granada with this mix (woodland-RDF-ERDL), I think that for soldiers one camo shirt is one camo shirt and isn't important if this is in green or brown dominant =)
