P90 stuffed with form = total silence?
Hi.
I was wondering is it safe to stuffed the surrounding area of the gearbox (TM P90) with form or like tissue paper. Beacuse I saw a guy who was selling his P90 on ebay did it. He says it makes it uber quiet (even though its pretty quiet to began with). And I was also wondering does anyone know actually how to stuff it? Because i dont want to mess up my P90. Thanks P.S. I just installed a m120 spring & bushing and my gun is shooting around 410fps. I was wondering how many rounds do I have to go though before the FPS drops. Thanks again. |

Drill a small hole in the body and inject it with expanding foam, garanteed when you pull the trigger you won't hear a thing.

I've heard it helps, but there isn't a heck of a lot of well documented test data out there. Easiest way is probably to use double sided tape and apply foam sheet to the mechbox before installing it. Keep the foam off of the hardpoints which register to the body.
You shouldn't see an fps decrease until wear out your nozzle or lose piston teeth. You'll get a lot of pseudoscience on this issue. I don't think springs lose much energy storage with age, but I haven't done lifecycle testing to say for sure. A lot of players will tell you that they observe measurable spring creep, but not many of us own our own chronys or try comparing old and new springs of identical rating in a new AEG.

Now with the "expanding foam" mess up the gearbox or will it stick to the gearbox?

I used two pieces of foam and shimmied them along the sides of the mechbox into the P90. As for the expanding foam, no garantees it won't stick all over the insides and the mechbox, most problematic if it gets into the trigger mechanism.
IMO, go with foam inserts, it won't be total silence but pretty close.

I used bits of foam inside my P90 to help quiet it down a bit... Its just simple foam similar to what is most gun cases that i have cut more or less to the exact dimentions of the back compartment - since i use a large battery, its open space. It doesnt do THAT much of a difference, but you can notice the difference in mechbox noise making it less sharp.
Best solution, outside of upgrading some components to make the mechbox quieter, is to get a suppressor of some sort with foam inside (doesnt really matter what length), as it removes most of your sound signature - can barely hear it at a distance. |

It's already a quiet gun. A sound suppressor will remove what little muzzle report there is. Foam or cotton sheets will dampen the rest. You'll never get 100% silence. Shhhhhhhhh! I'm trying to read!
You can also use SDM. You know...that stuff people put on the inside of their riced cars to stop music from their sound system from escaping. bass drum hi-hat bass drum hi-hat bass drum hi-hat bass drum hi-hat |

You aren't running an m120 with stock gears are you?

if you wanted to get really technical,
take out your gearbox, and rig up something the exact shape of the gearbox using cardboard/plastic or whatever you want. then stick the gun back together and do the expanding foam thingy, wait for it to dry, then open up your gun, cut out the "fake" gearbox and slip the real one in. you will probably have to cut holes in the foam for your wires and such, and it would probably require a fair bit of work, but hey isnt that what projects are all about. also i should remind you, i have never owned a P90, i have held and shot one, but have never seen the inside of it, so i have no idea how plausible this idea is. just an idea -KP

Have stuffed my P90 with madrass foam, waste of time if you ask me. |

Two-part epoxy injection comes to mind, after reading all this...
Listen, geeze, here's ONE free clue; airsoft guns make some noise. It's NORMAL. Just deal with it. And another free clue (I'm generous for some reason); expanding foam would totally screw your gun up forever. So would epoxy. It's like us telling you to fill your gun with cement and you're buying it for a fact. You know painfully little about airsoft, so how about you study a bit more before asking questions? You might learn useful stuff. End of clues, start reading. At 17 you should know how to read and use the Internet. |

On a helpful note, I used an open cell foam in my AUG and stuffed in in the empty cavity surrounding the mechbox. The gun is stock and when I use the OPS 10" silencer, I've hit guys at 30 feet who never even heard the gun and had no idea who shot them.
With upgrades like an M120, your gun will be a bit noisier, and there's only so much you can do to quiet it down. But every little bit helps if stealth is your aim.

Hmm thanks? I just find it faster to ask then search for the answer. One last question. Right now I'm using a 9.6v 3300mah(for my P90 with the m120 & bushing) and since my fuse keeps burning up I removed it. Like how many rounds will it take before it burns up my motor or anything stuff? And what battery do you guys recommend. Thanks again.
