Lightweight BBU and CO2 KJ1911?
So as most people know the KJW 1911 is horrid in gas efficiency. So personally Ive opted to use CO2 mags.
Ive shimmed the gas routers, and attempted to replace the piston head with a nineball DYNA but seemed like it did not help at all (Yes I tried both Orings), for some reason the stock piston head actually works better. It seems to be functioning decently but I still don't find the blowback quite satisfactory, and it seems to lose its kick rather quickly. I was thinking to replace the BBU with a lightweight one, but was wondering could those lightweight bbu's withstand CO2? Last edited by DropTheBomb; February 14th, 2016 at 23:14.. |

There should not be a problem for a BBU upgrade. Quality ones will have decent durability. The only thing you need to watch for is any nozzle damage when using CO2. If you want you could make lightening cuts in the stock BBU.

Explain "horrible gas efficiency"?
My KJW 1911, and previous KJW 1911's, all had wonderful gas use. 28rnds no problem, with lock back on last round. Every time. With KJW Mags and BETTER with TM mags. Sure there isn't something up with your gun? EDIT: The only thing I've ever replaced on all the guns was the Recoil spring to a Guarder 150%. I find the stock springs a little mushy. |

Secondly, I hardly think that shaving a few grams with make much difference, you're better off tinkering with the hammer spring which is set up to be very strong for CO2, much more than a 150% spring for green gas. If you swapped that out for a regular TM spring or a 150% Guarder spring, I'm positive you will get better gas efficiency with a reduction in kick.
Lightweight BBU's are for very light slides and the KJW is anything but. Not to mention I would be very surprised if it fit without modification, KJW tends to have different tolerances than TM, and those are all made for TM guns. |

Kjw MEUs are kinda hit or miss. Mine gets 25 shots, with the last 5 fairly sluggish. Lots of people have reported getting around 15 though.
Since I have a second built from the ground up 1911, here is what I've tried: -switch to a AS BBU - switch to a airsoft masterpiece bull outer barrel -use a AS Nozzle - 150% recoil and hammer spring - use shimmed TM mags with both Mapp pro and propane The result..... Same bloody 25 shots per mag LOL Conclusion, there seems to be a problem with tolerances wity each gun. They are still great though, specially considering that the new KJW 1911's come with all steel internals (hammer, valve knocker, etc..)

Well ive actually managed to drastically improve my efficiency since the last time I posted this, I tested and managed to get 4 mags from 1 CO2 bulb.
I in fact recently ordered a UAC featherweight BBU so I wanted to make sure it doesn't explode or crack on me! I think simply the modding bug caught me |

Replace the nozzle, the stock KJW red ones are shit and break easily (that's when you start getting crap efficiency, when they get breaks/cracks).
