Ares Ameba AM007 - 11.1v?
Hey folks, just got myself am Ares Ameba AM007 as a backup. Looks nice and the reviews are great for the price, but I have a question - Has anybody tried to run a 11.1v on one of these guys?
Most of resources online say that yes you can, but none are very definite. Also this guy on reddit said that the 'green' chip burns out on 11.1v, whereas the 'blue' chip is fine. Unfortunately I have the green one, but have no idea where he's getting that info from. http://www.reddit.com/r/airsoft/comm...s_ares_am_007/ (The honeybadger and AM005 are the same internals, so that would work too) Thanks! |

the Amoeba series have the same gearbox, so yes you can run a 11.1V lipo through them,
if you get a chance program it to the 11.1 setting. makes the gun a little better because of the built in monitoring |

I can confirm that the green chip is a piece of shit, the blue chip is much better. The green chip has one shitty MOSFET, the blue chip has 3 slightly less shitty MOSFETs. As far as function goes, I don't know if it has voltage monitering, but never leave a battery plugged in to an Amoeba. It will suck the battery dry in less than a day, and ruin your Li-Po.

The green chip is absolute crap, I've fried too of them already with a high discharge 11.1 LiPo. It might have been because one of the builds was a M190 DSG though.

God damn it, wish I would've read this sooner. One lipo dead. Left it in the gun for 2 days.
I heard that Ares has a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. iKliuu, what did you do to fix yours after you fried the chip? Do they sell them separately (which ones are these?) or did you use the warranty somehow? I bought this guy only a few days ago, I'll try to go back to Toronto Airsoft to see if I can trade it in for a blue chip one if they have it.. |

I emailed ARES, and they said they'd send me a replacement blue chip if I mailed my green chip back to them.

people shouldn't be leaving their batteries plugged into any aeg... not just because it's bad for the battery (for those with computerized controllers), but because someone can be careless and leave 1 in the chamber, or someone grabs a mag that's not empty and puts it in. I've gone to so many people's houses and their guns have one or all of the above.

![]() Thanks iKliiu, have you gone through sending them the chip already? Just wondering what the process is like if I every need to do it. |

If someone with this gun ruined their tappet plate or if a gear stripped, would standard ares parts work or does the amoeba have it's own sub-proprietary parts? Anyone know which gear ratio it is?

Good info since the honey badger looks like an interesting pick up for me ! I'll keep an eye out for the green/blue chip situation.
