*SOLVED*We Scar Bolt Catch

Hey all,

So Ive got the typical problem with the WE scar/m4 series with my bolt not catching correctly. I can solve it by adding material to the underside of the contact portion of the bolt catch or shimming it.

The problem lies in the fact that after TWO magazines my carrier looks like this. The entire corner is missing. The bolt will catch, or at least attempt to but because of the missing chunk it will slip right off.

Who in the world at WE thought putting a STEEL bolt catch to stop an aluminum carrier and only by slamming it against maybe 2mm of the very corner of the bolt was a good idea?

Does anyone have any information on how to fix this or what should i do? I don't think there are any after market bolt stops made of aluminum....

Is it safe to use the steel bolt carrier (not the charging handle)? I know the steel will eat the receiver but I'm not to sure about the nozzle carrier.

****EDIT*****

Apparently I'm missing the little steel insert....I never received one with my gun....

And apparently I can only get the little steel insert If I buy a full carrier assembly for 100 bucks.

If the wall that has the red square on it is thick enough to screw a small metal machine screw right at the corner, cut and file the corner back in shape may enforce it and work.

I have the same problem with my scar. First off no one makes a steel replacement bolt catch. Secondly the ra tech steel bolt won't beat up the receiver like some think. It will destroy the stock hammer tho. So if you do get it i recommend upgrading the trigger assembly. My stock bolt has a small plastic insert that catches the release.

I think I may have the part your need. I have a WE PDW first Gen bolt lay around for parts use, sitting here for years and about to give it away. That's look like the same design. The bolt should have a hole for this little piece, right? I'll past by your area next Tuesday evening if you want it.
